Most believers of Christianity and Islam believe in the Age of Christ that is yet to come, the "Second Coming," or "Parousia" as it is referred to in Biblical terms. The date and time of this event is said to be unknown.

In no uncertain terms, the world we live in is fraught with obstacles to understanding and believing in the Second Coming when (or if) it happens in our era. In lieu of other doctrine, including the idea of “false prophets,” and “the antichrist,” will we know when Christ returns to earth?

Other than the signs declared in the Bible (given up to interpretation of literal vs. allegorical texts), how will you know of Christ's return to earth? What signs will make this evident to you, and will you believe? Why or why not?

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night: in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with the clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS

1 Thessalonians 4:16&17
16 For the Lord himself shall desend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the arch-angel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Christians will know of the second coming (The Rapture) of Christ because we will rise up to meet Him in the air. Unbelievers will know because suddenly there will be people missing who were previously here. They will realize that all they've been told, and refused to believe, was true. They will be on earth during the 7 year tribulation, the first 3 1/2 years of which will be okay but the second 3 1/2 years will be terror. The anti-christ will rule. If you do not have the mark of the beast you will not be able to buy or sell. There is a way to avoid the great tribulation and that is to accept Christ now. Only God knows when Christ will return, it will happen when God says it's time. After the rapture, it will be too late. Are you ready? I pray so. I am a believer.

It worries me greatly that so many Christians are hung up on the time of the Second Coming. I think it has become an excuse for not doing the work of the Lord on a daily bases. We use the end of times as an excuse not to become involved in what we need to be about

Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour but the Father, not even the Son. So if this is something that even Jesus does not know I cannot phantom how Christians can even begin to think we can predict it.

Are we saying we are smarter then Christ? That we can know the day and the hour when He Himself said He does not know?

As to when I will believe it has begun, other then the signs in the Bible nothing would convince me. If the Lord does not tarry and I am here when it begins, I would hope to be caught up in the Rapture and for it not to be my concern. If the Rapture comes and am I left behind then I will begin to be worried not only about the world but about my own soul.

But as I said since I can never know the day or the hour, I never waste time (except here on YA) dealing with it. Instead I try my best to do the work of the Lord daily

in the Bible, A prophet became in essence a preacher. some have been given specific power (i.e. Moses, Elijah, Elisha, and so on). there'll constantly be a "remnant" because of the fact the Bible call it. a set of believers. And, on the grounds that we are likened to sheep in the Bible then we prefer a Shepherd or somebody to instruction manual the flock. God remains calling Pastors yet no person has the Apostolic miracle information that he gave to the Prophets of old. The passage which you're touching on speaks approximately fake Prophets that come preaching: "yet another Jesus, yet another Spirit or yet another gospel," then we are to careful of them. Jesus became letting us understand, for the duration of the apostle Paul that there would be some who look a lot like Christians that some would be perplexed. the nice and cozy button is, understand the genuine Jesus, the genuine Holy Spirit and the genuine Gospel and you will have not any subject discerning the sheep and the wolves.

If you mean the rapture? I'll see him coming in the clouds and be drawn up to him by the Holy Ghost. Those that don't have the truth. Will believe the lie, or God will cause them to believe. After the judgement, Jesus will reign on earth for 1,000 years. And the lion will lay down with the lamb. He's only going to be here long enough to get his bride on the next trip. The next time, he will prevent the destruction of Isael at Armagedan. Then judgement. When is it you expect to see him??

It is said that the day & the hour are not known--but we ARE given signs to watch for-
Jesus gave us signs (plain & simple) in Mathew 24 to watch for-- Even though they have always happened-- he describes them as birth pains-- and we know that birth pains start out small & get stronger-- looking at nature alone-- storms, droughts, earthquakes --just in the last couple years!! If you study the Bible-you can feel that -- time is near! Just as Christ said..
Bottom line - I know in my heart- time is near-from studies- How will you know?
Evidence-The closer we get-- the more evil people become--

God and Jesus(which is God) give many, many many prophetic signs as to when the end is near. And dear sister, we are in it.

Question: "What are the signs of the end times?"

Answer: Matthew 24:5-8 gives us some important clues so we can discern the approach of the end times, “For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” An increase in false messiahs, an increase in warfare, and increases in famines, plagues, and natural disasters – these items are “signs” of the end times. Even in this passage, though, we are given a warning. We are not to be deceived (Matthew 24:4), because these events are only the beginning of birth pains (Matthew 24:8), the end is still to come (Matthew 24:6).

Many interpreters point to every earthquake, every political upheaval, and every attack on Israel as a sure sign that the end times are rapidly approaching. While these events are signs that the end times are approaching, they are not necessarily indicators that the end times have arrived. The Apostle Paul warned that the last days would bring a marked increase in false teaching. “In the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1). The last days are described as “perilous times” because of the increasingly evil character of man and people who actively “resist the truth” (2 Timothy 3:1-9; see also 2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Other possible signs would include a rebuilding of a Jewish temple in Jerusalem, increased hostility towards Israel, and advances toward a one-world government. The most prominent sign of the end times, however, is the nation of Israel. In 1948, Israel was recognized as a sovereign state for the first time since 70 A.D. God promised Abraham that his posterity would have Canaan as “an everlasting possession” (Genesis 17:8), and Ezekiel prophesied a physical and spiritual resuscitation of Israel (Ezekiel 37). Having Israel as a nation in its own land is important in light of end-time prophecy, because of Israel’s prominence in eschatology (Daniel 10:14; 11:41; Revelation 11:8).

With these signs in mind, we can be wise and discerning in regards to the expectation of the end times. We should not, however, interpret any of these singular events as a clear indication of the soon arrival of the end times. God has given us enough information that we can be prepared, but not enough information that we can become arrogant.

With love to you all through Christ Jesus our savior!!

Israel will be surrounded by armies. There will be signs in the heaven and in the earth, we will see the abomination that causes desolation sitting in the holy place.. frankly, it will all be happening but it will be as in the days of Noah, we will be eating and drinking, marrying and working, some will be taken and some left behind.
I don't really understand it well at all. I look forward to taking Eschatology and Revelation in Bible College in a couple years.

One of the great scriptures i like to tell people to read is Mathhew 24 all of the chapter. Jesus tell of the things that are coming, false phrophets who try to change his word and will decive many. There are teachers in our world today saying that any way in to heaven is okay, When God says we must exspept his son sacrifice as the only way into heaven.
One of the signs is that the followers of Christ will be hated by the world for their belief and many will be killed. You see that today in third world countrys where its against the law to teach otheres or for them to convert to Christainty.
Today people want to live any way they want to even if it hurts otheres of not. Jesus says that is a selfish way to live. We see that today with the selfish generationg as long as I get what i desire and live as i desire its what i want that's all that matters..Jesus says he will come back and we have the chance and choice of free will to make up or mind to follow or not. But people cant be angry with God when he don't let them into heaven when they refuse to follow his way of doing things..thats trying to rewright the book to fit our own desires and wants;; Example:: if we tryed to joing the military today and refuse to follow their rules you can be courtmarshalled so why is it people think they can dthatwith God. Today we have the choice of life and death that God offers it up to each of us to make that choice before he returns

When you see him come down then you will know. Technically speaking, he'll set up shop here on earth and all will know about it.

I think right now is the calm before the storm.
