((Earth created before stars, plants created before the Sun))

I've heard the Old Testament Creation story defended by saying that "A day to God could be a million years to us."

Is the order of creation an additional issue? Or is it solved by saying "Time is relative"?

The length of a day has always been a minor point for me, when it comes to the genesis account of creation. More importantly are the flat out innaccuracies (earth older than the sun etc.). The claim that the moon emits light is understandable from a human 2,000 years ago, but is still factually wrong.

First, to really understand the text you need to read it in the original Hebrew. A lot of meaning and thus understanding gets lost in translation.

Secondly, there is more that meets the eye.

A) "Earth" created before stars is possible when earth has a different meaning than the obvious one. It could mean, for instance, "matter", as opposed to energy.

B) Plants created before the sun (or stars): I don't know the answer. Maybe the order or creation is not preserved, here. We should ask a Rabbi: http://www.askmoses.org

C) Yes, a day to G-d could b a million years to us. It's just unthinkable to us what is G-d's perspective of space and time.

D) I think the order of creation is correct, but we need a better understanding of the text.

Be aware that at least one addition to the word of God (roughly speaking 100 years old) 'confuses people. The 'light' (Day 1, 2, 3) before the Sun, moon, and stara (which were created on day 4) was Jesus who was the light of the world.

This is a mistake made by people that believe in theistic evolution....they refuse to accept the definition of "day" as it is given in Genesis.
They take it out of context, or place a meaning to the word that is not taught there.
It IS a literal period of time measured in hours.

Later in the N.T., when it is said a day is like a thousand years, it is only a poetic way of describing eternity. This, they forget. How COULD anyone describe what eternity is?

Yes! God is a committee of aliens all zipping past the planet in different directions at near luminal speeds! This would also explain the time dilation!

Dude, you just proved the existence of the God Committee. Expect some greys to come pester you and some MIBs to flashy-thing you.

Is the order wrong, or the meaning. If the earth was covered by a dense atmosphere, then the sun and stars wouldn't have been visible, but they would have still been there.

I love the Christian's use of the word "context". To be Bible scholar, is to be able to tie ones mind in sufficient knots of dogma, as to reach a theory of how all the nonsense fits together.
