'not to take literally' Do you think 500-1000 years ago we would have been not to take them literaly or is it just that religion has had to evolve as some of these stories just cannot be believed in modern times? If this is so, what else isn't true in that book?!

If God exists (this eliminates all you atheists from the question, sorry), and He created our minds, therefore our ability to think and to question, why wouldn't He want us to question of Him? Ultimately, He has all the answers, and according to the bible, wants to talk to us. So why are people so quick to run to others with questions, instead of God first?

I could see if they were asking a true question but most of it is just to inflame people.

Everybody hates death, fears death, but only those, the believers who know the life after death and the reward after death, would be the ones who will be seeking death.

I mean, even considering all the mocking and bitterness and so forth, did you know anywhere near as much about any religion or spiritual point of view besides your own? Haven't you learned something useful, perhaps even in spite of yourself? I never knew half the things I have learned here, and that's with having taken college courses in religion. I took an anthropology course, and one in the psychology department, and one in the philosophy department. And I've been through most of the new age bookstores in my neighborhood for many years. But I learned lots of things here I never knew before. How about you?

We've been dating for about the last fsix months... when we first started dating he wanted me to start reading the Quran and such, I only agreed if he would go to church with me one weekend.

To make a long story short, in just one sermon (basically), he was the one to change sides and see the truth and believe in the gospel... now he says he feels sorry for other Muslims because they are just as misguided as he once was... and that Muhammed and his teachings were full of bullsh*t.

The problem is that we're thinking of getting married but he hasn't decided how to tell his Muslim parents....

What should we do???

Why are the sky and the water both blue?
The theory of evolution says that things are the way they are because they evolved that way from earlier things. Are we really to believe that the sky and water evolved to be the same color from different colored skies and waters?
Of course not! What possible evolutionary advantage could this have?

But if there was an intelligent designer who had a lot of the color blue left over from his earlier projects like heaven, he could have used that blue in a lot of different things, like the sky and water.

This proves that the theory of evolution is a sham and a fraud.
I'd like to see a scientific response to that!

I was reading the following article about the Pope in today's Times newspaper:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article2039932.ece

and in it it states that 'next week the Vatican is due to issue a document reasserting that only the Catholic Church is the Church of Christ'.

Does this mean that the Church of England and other anglican churches are not truly christian churches?

What I want to know is the time of the Christianization of the whole Roman Empire.
When did Christianity become the Roman Empire's official and only religion?
