To some, a "role" is "woman should do this and not do that, man should do this and not do that". In many cultures including our own, it's seen as unmanly for a male to be clean or to have been taught to clean his room. What is so hard for men to understand that when they learn this, they are the most desirable men among others. I have a daughter, and a son, and I treat each equally. My daughter helps clean up, and from the entire family's example, including my husband, even he at the age of 16 months hands me stuff from the floor or wherever he is.

And what don't some men in our religion get about following Islam? No, it's not our duty to clean up after you and cook for you. IF we choose to, Islam considers it a charity to you and you are not to complain about it nor demand or give orders about it. The Prophet (PBUH) did almost everything on his own and he had the toughest job, so how about you emulate that since prayer is already established?

Yeah, I know, that's kind of provocative, especially since I've commented on it before in my answers. But it is one of the most striking differences between the two groups, and it needs to be explored. Maybe we can get a grant... nah! Let's just figure it out here.

I have a book (i highly reccomend it!) by Neil Douglas-Klotz called Desert Wisdom that has the most beautiful extended translations of a few suras in the Qur'an (as well as other holy books and writings)

I was wondering if anyone knows of an extended translation of the Qur'an like that, something that really takes apart each sura and explores it in a more poetic in depth way than typical translations do?

The event has already passed, but I wanted to get some opinions from people.
They told me to dress "casual". In your mind, what does "casual" mean to you?

I am pregnant and have outgrown all my nice clothes. I also just lost my job (I told them I was pregnant and they fired me), therefore I really had no money to buy anything new. So, guess what I wore? Maternity jeans and a t-shirt.

You know what? I told them I couldn't go, but basically I was forced to go. And I had bad morning sickness that day too.

So... I get there and everyone is wearing fancy dresses! I was mortified and Pissed Off! Casual?! Yeah right! It was horrible.

Does that sound even remotely casual to you?

There is this family that moved in 9 years ago, and I will admit the parents cussed me out for no reason, and they park all their cars in front of my house causing me to park on other people's houses. As a result of their ill behavior, I do not communicate with them.

All of a sudden their son, who "seems" really nice, starts talking to me and coming up to me 3X and asking me my name, or if anyone saw who stole his car parts? I told him after 9 years you introduce yourself what gives now?
Should I regard my neighbor with suspicion because I feel funny in the pit of my stomach.

Why is it that so many of you try to emulate the Prophet (PBUH) in every single way except in the treatment of women? Why do you let your culture take the lead when it comes to how your treat your wives and daughters? The Prophet (PBUH) cleaned his own mess, served himself his meals, helped with the housework that needed to be done, and never once said that it was the duty of a woman to cook and clean. The men of that time also cooked, and Abu Bakr would even teach other women that did not know how to cook. Why are you so able to pray the way he did, eat the way he did, and otherwise quote everything else, but ignore half of the deen? Do you think you are busier than him, who had the hardest duty of anybody by delivering the message and defending the ummah? And please don't give me that sorry excuse that you are only human, because you seem to excel in prayer so start excelling in how women are treated. What do you say?

if a simple farm boy can write a book that is "allegedly" another bible, & manages to include many references obscure names listed in the bible itself. & within just over 200 years of his birth, the LDS church is one of the fastest growing religions, WORLD WIDE! if the Book of Mormon is a fraud, how come nobody else has even come CLOSE to creating such a phenomenon. i would think there are at least a dozen college professors (& average people who who would LOVE to turn organized religion (or maybe just Christianity) on it's head. but i say again, how come nothing has been done? or if has been done, why has it not overcome the writing of that poor farm boy with little schooling?

I have grown up in a Southern Baptist Church, but have only been a Christian for about 3 weeks. I've just been wondering recently, when you pray, should you address God as a fearsome judge, that you should be afraid of, or do you address Him as good friend? Does it matter, is it a personal choice? I'm just curious. Thank you.

. . . for the decisions they make through the free He gave them?

I mean . . . if I live a healthy, happy life and never maliciously harm another human being, but I never accept Christ as my personal savior, I'm making those decisions based on free will. If what believers say is true, Christ gave me that free will to make those decisions.

Why give someone free will if you're going to insist that they believe in something specific to begin with?

To me, it's like saying, "You can choose between these colors. Pick the one you think is best." And then I choose green, and God goes, "Errrr, sorry, green was the wrong answer."

I know that we nonbelievers can be aggressive, cynical, and sarcastic sometimes, but I'm actually seriously trying to understand this. Please know I'm not attacking.

Here's what one atheist asked earlier:

"If you are a good person and you haven't committed any major sins during your life and you love God but believe in the wrong version and God is all powerful and can see the future, why would he create someone just so they can burn in Hell forever when they die?"

"How is this fair?"

This person totally misses the point. First off, there is no such thing as a good person. We are all sinners in the eyes of God. Only through Jesus can we avoid Hell. God does not send us to Hell for not believing. We choose to go to Hell ourselves.

If you were a convicted murderer and the governor wanted to pardon you, but you refused to accept it then the pardon wouldn't do any good. You would still be executed.

Same exact thing with Jesus. We might as well be like convicted murderers when it comes to God since no unclean thing can get into Heaven. We must believe in Jesus to be forgiven.

Agree?

Gen. 1:25 - 27 -- man and woman created AT THE SAME TIME after animals.

And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image.... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Gen. 2: 18 - 22 -- Male created BEFORE THE ANIMALS, female created AFTER

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: ... And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

If God exists, what objection can he have to saying so?

What I'm saying is, if God wanted to send us a message, and ancient writings were the only way he could think of doing it, he could have done a better job. [as compared to say having the Virgin Mary or Jesus appear in a tortilla, tree stump, glass window, water-damaged ceiling tile, or grilled cheese sandwich]

so look around outside how can you say this world just happened by chance? It had to of had a designer/Creator.

If we were not created how do you explain DNA. DNA is a very complex program for the body.

If we were not created how do you know what is right and wrong when no one tells you?

this is because there is a Creator. God created everything. Have a Blessed Day!

Occasionally, a fetus will develop into a viable being that moves, sees, hears, consumes nourishment, breathes, responds to touch and cries just like a normal baby, but it's forebrain is missing.

In other words, the part of the brain that is responsible for thought, learning, reasoning, memory, personality, identity - basically everything that makes a person a person - is not there. For all intensive purposes, this being will just become a bedridden food processor, never capable of comprehension, emotions, independent action, speech or thought.

While technically human, it will grow to have more in common with an earthworm than a human being. Would you considered wrong to abort it in the womb, or an act of mercy?
