Why is it that so many of you try to emulate the Prophet (PBUH) in every single way except in the treatment of women? Why do you let your culture take the lead when it comes to how your treat your wives and daughters? The Prophet (PBUH) cleaned his own mess, served himself his meals, helped with the housework that needed to be done, and never once said that it was the duty of a woman to cook and clean. The men of that time also cooked, and Abu Bakr would even teach other women that did not know how to cook. Why are you so able to pray the way he did, eat the way he did, and otherwise quote everything else, but ignore half of the deen? Do you think you are busier than him, who had the hardest duty of anybody by delivering the message and defending the ummah? And please don't give me that sorry excuse that you are only human, because you seem to excel in prayer so start excelling in how women are treated. What do you say?

This is directed at men because men are the ones oppressing the women in those countries. Women are the ones being stripped of their rights, having their rights violated, and not even being seen as an equal in her own home, all which is contrary to islam.

Praise be to Allah, the Most Beneficient, the Most Gracious...

Sister i dont know how to answer it but let me tell you you are right so is kind of salafee jihadi... not all of what he says but then yeah Men are not doing their work in Islam properly, so are not women... But okay i admit that men are the worser ones out than Women. Praise and glory be to Allah no man is superior to no woman, nor is any woman superior to no man. Well i dont know if i fall into the men you pointed out because i aint married yet and havent got any daughters.. so hardly can comment on that but yeah there are the muslim men who dont follow islam properly and there are the ones who do to their best of ability. Like men have got their hijab they are meant to wear. They have to wear their trousers above their ankle.. which ive noticed 80% of the men dont follow in Islam. But in the other way around we witness millions of women wearing the hijab with modesty. And the verse SOYLENTREEN pointed out she claims that shows INEQUALITY in Islam is not (4:37) but is (4:34).. And she got the whole context of it wrong. The Quran doesnt show inequality in between men and women... Allah says in the verse he has made one to excel the other... which doesnt mean that man is superior to a woman but in certain responsibilities he does excel a woman so does a woman excel a man in ceratin responsibilities. In the text Allah mentions that women should be obedient but that doesnt mean that women should cook, clean etc etc. and man just sits and relaxes. It means they have to be obedient to Allah (swt).

Yes sister you got a point there... me being really far from perfection and nowhere near to the prophet muhammed(pbuh) i would say we have to try to follow him to the best of our abilities. Please dont think im trying to talk for men or women but im just sayin what is my idea thats. Im sorry if i said anything wrong that would have hurt anyone by any chance

Excellent point, and I agree with you completely!

I think there is no doubt that, like many cultures and religions, Muslims also have a percentage of their people who adhere more towards their traditions and the traditions of their ancestors, even before Islam came to their land, than follow the teachings of the Prophet of Islam (saaws).

As men and representatives of our Islamic religion, we must all respect our women and treat them the way our prophet (saaws) treated his wives.

I think a culture becomes "Islamically-civilized" and successful in the eyes of God (swt) when both genders work together for the sake of creating an atmosphere of respect and trust, similar to which existed during the time of our beloved prophet (saaws).

Women in places like Afghanistan have become ignorant because of the men who have abused their power. Nothing in the Qur'an or the teachings of the Prophet (saaws) suppress women to the extent that Afghanistan suppressed them.

Its not just muslim men, there is nothing to do with religion. Men in general consider themselfs superior and they always try to suppres women and her rights. Its like their inborn character something terribly wrong with their genes. My father doesn't follow any islamic principles he is very harsh to my mom and he never realises its wrong. Men always want women to be their slaves be it in islam or anyother religion. It can atleast be changed by teaching children to respect and treat women equally.

I'm not sure that is a Muslim thing. Americans are historically predominantly Christian, and women still take second chair to men in everything. It is the history of the world.

I agree with you sister, most of Muslim men are unaware of what our religion says about it, but they take refuge of what their culture directs, that is wrong bcoz religion must supersede the culture in such contradictions.

Thanks for the point.

I'm not a muslim, but I think it goes back to the Koran.

I think it was verse 4.37 that talks about keeping your woman at home and obedient. It says that if she disobeys you that you should teach her a lesson, beat her, etc.

Unfortunately, I think these stupid guys are just following scripture. I wish the Koran preached more equality among men (and women.)

Don't give me a thumbs down because you know I speak the truth. The Koran is full of wonderful verse about the Prophet and His teaching; however, if you want to know why Muslim men act the way they do---you need to look toward the teaching of their Holy Book. It is what it is.

Don't worry, I have equal complaints about sexist scripture in the Holy Bible...

Women have the hardest jobs in the world trying to keep men happy...

NOTA BENE:

JUDGING BY ALL THE THUMBS DOWN I'M RECEIVING---I think it is very narrow minded for ANYONE to not see the faults in their religion. Narrow mindedness is not a virtue---If you're literate--try reading the Koran... Please try not to be threatened by a strong, intelligent woman. I truly pity your ignorance.

The only reason why I'm getting so many "thumbs down" is because you know I'm right... ;)

I can't say more because I'm not married yet..
But my dad treats my mom well and as kind as he can..
He even cooks, gardens, plays with my siblings etc...
