There is this family that moved in 9 years ago, and I will admit the parents cussed me out for no reason, and they park all their cars in front of my house causing me to park on other people's houses. As a result of their ill behavior, I do not communicate with them.
All of a sudden their son, who "seems" really nice, starts talking to me and coming up to me 3X and asking me my name, or if anyone saw who stole his car parts? I told him after 9 years you introduce yourself what gives now?
Should I regard my neighbor with suspicion because I feel funny in the pit of my stomach.

Why would he talk to me after 9 years, and it's funny he just started introducing himself to other neighbors too. Is this weird?

He's around 28 years old.
He has a brother, too around his age who also is mean like the parents, so I refrain talking as little as possible.

Why should the son have to pay for his parents behavior towards you? Maybe he's just a nice guy, nobody chooses their parents. Give him a break. Maybe if you guys become friends, or atleast be civil to one another, his parents will follow suit.

How old is the neighbor's son? It could be that as he's come of age, he's decided to step out of the shadow of his parents' attitude, and try to be nice to those neighbors that his parents cheesed off. After all, you said he's making the effort with you, and the other neighbors.
If your not happy being friendly with him, just say hello or nod acknowledgment when you pass each other, but don't offer any more encouragement than that. But if he seems nice, why not give him a chance to prove it? Maybe he is a better person than his parents, and if so its not fair to ostracize him because of them..

He wants to know who stole his parts. Also, he might be introducing himself to try and fake people into looking out for him. You know, the nicer you are to your neighbors, usually the more they will look out for you when you're not home, at least that has been my experience.

If you have that feeling in the pit of your stomach, go with it, do not ignore it. That's very important, it is your intuition. It doesn't matter what his reasons are. Your intuition is telling you to stay away from him.

Yes, be suspicious. A sudden burst of neighborliness after nine years of silent hostility has to have been provoked by something. Whatever the motivation, it is unlikely to be good.

He probably just wants to know who stole his car parts. After that I doubt he'll ever speak to you again.

maybe he's tired of not being nice or maybe he just felt like he needed to be nice to get your help if you knew anything about his car. just be nice back. you don't want him telling all the other neighbors that he tried to be nice to you and you were rude to him.

tough one....I'd be polite, but careful.....you never know (the family sounds kinda "off"...I meant you never know what people are capable of..and you're intuition is usually right)

maybe he's just growing up. could be he feels bad about the way his folks acted and he's trying to be adult about it. you don't have to be pals just keep it amicable.
