To some, a "role" is "woman should do this and not do that, man should do this and not do that". In many cultures including our own, it's seen as unmanly for a male to be clean or to have been taught to clean his room. What is so hard for men to understand that when they learn this, they are the most desirable men among others. I have a daughter, and a son, and I treat each equally. My daughter helps clean up, and from the entire family's example, including my husband, even he at the age of 16 months hands me stuff from the floor or wherever he is.
And what don't some men in our religion get about following Islam? No, it's not our duty to clean up after you and cook for you. IF we choose to, Islam considers it a charity to you and you are not to complain about it nor demand or give orders about it. The Prophet (PBUH) did almost everything on his own and he had the toughest job, so how about you emulate that since prayer is already established?
