Many athiests accuse Christians of being illogical in their thinking. They say this with great authority. Saying that Christians are illogical because they believe in something they can't see is an invalid statement because "logical" is a subjective term.

WHAT'S LOGICAL TO ME MAY NOT BE LOGICAL TO YOU!!

I think it's logical that there is a creator. And if you study the Bible in it's original languages taking into consideration historical context, the Bible is completely logical, too.

So, it seems to me that "illogical" is just a term to use to insult Christians. It makes about as much sense as calling them a "poopy head".

Any thoughts?

This just popped into my head.

The trouble with being a leisurely, easygoing, live-and-let-live type of person is that so many other people *aren't*. And then they try to make decisions *for* you, and if you don't get mad, you'll get steamrolled.

What do y'all think? Have you experienced this? Do you think I got it right--or dead wrong?

My parents did that to me a few yrs ago. They kicked me out b/c I didn't have a good job at the time(despite jobsearching, it took a while to find a job after college & I was working retail in the meantime...trust me, NOT my choice!) & they assumed they worst. I wrote about this before & a lot of people suggested that it was "tough love" & taught me important lessons. Sometimes it might be true, but for my scenario I'd disagree.

How can I get ahead in life, or obtain a decent job, when I already had a lot of odds stacked against me at that time in my life?
- when they kicked me out, I was homeless & had no true friends to stay with, so I was stuck living on the streets
- I had no car to sleep in or drive to places; I also lived in the country, where mass transit is inaccessible
- I was already having a hard time finding a job due to the classic lack-of-experience Catch 22
- I had no cell phone, therefore no way for employers to contact me for interviews or to verify my existence

The proverbial finger points, once again, to Mormonism, where the men are allowed to have multiple wives but the women cannot take multiple husbands.

One chapter of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code notes that within churches of the Catholic group Opus Dei, the nuns have to serve their male counterparts. (Though some parts of the book are fictional and based on conjecture, like the theory of the Last Supper painting, Brown's research is usually pretty sound.)

The ultimate blow, however, has to come from the Bible itself: Genesis 3:26 - 'Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'

What's going on?

Rather than fearing incorporeal beings that have never been seen, why don't we work on ourselves and try to figure out how to make ourselves better people?

What Christian denomination are you?

What challenges do you face being both progressive and Christian? (criticized from all sides perhaps?!)

What led you to becoming a Christian? (Or...why do you remain with the faith, even though you might disagree with many fellow Christians on many issues?)

Thank you. Peace be with you.

II’m going to be very frank and sober on this point. I want you guys to take a deep breath and search your souls for truth with a capital “T”.
Many of you are far more intelligent than I am and I take my hat off to you. However, faith in Christ and believing the scriptures is really not about having a high or low I.Q. As intelligent as some of you may be, I know and you know, there are some Christians that are far more intelligent than any of you. I am not putting you down in anyway I just want you to grasp that there is something about the word of God that goes beyond the immediate perception. It actually blesses countless lives! Again, it’s not about intelligence it’s about suspending attitude, pride and ego in the inner most part of our psyche. Listen to the spirit of the words of the bible and not just the words themselves. Come on, let’s be real, even using your logic and science, the numbers in favor of probable intelligent design far out weigh the astronomical numbers of CHANCE. Jesus put it this way…
"I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.”¬¬_ Luke 10:21
Finally, my question. Could you possibly be overlooking the find of your life?

What do you think it would be like if everyone on this forum were actually in the same place and met? Do you think we'd get along? Do you think we'd have fun? Would it be one big debate? Would everyone be segregated (atheists with atheits, Christians with Christians, Pagans with Pagans, etc)?

Or would it be just one big party?

What is the moral issue with stem cell research? What is the difference if you flush an embryonic stem cell marked for destruction down a toilet or use it for research? What makes destroying the cell more moral than doing research on it that could save and improve millions [probably billions] of lives?

to bring the lower classes under their control. I don't care what religion it is...Cathlic, Hindu, Muslim, Protestant, Lutherism, Jehovah's Witnesse...you are all victims of mind control, only you can't see it because your mind is under the control of people who have a lot to gain from organized religions. All your sacred books are nothing but a bunch of lies and perversions. I don't care what "sacred" book you use. There is nothing sacred about any of them. But, who am I to tell you what to believe? Go ahead and believe what ever you want, if it makes you happy. But ask yourself, right now, are you really any happier because of your religion?

if they didn't give up their faith in the One True God but, she encouraged her children to die than to do that and Scripture says it will be recorded and her courage will be talked about forever, how come the Protestants removed this? If the Divine says she will be talked about forever, why is it that the Catholic Bible is the one that does that yet we take hits for not following the Bible? That's just wrong.

My boyfriend of three weeks likes me to perform oral sex on him when his buddies are around because he likes them to watch, but the other day when my bf wasn't home from work yet one of his buddies showed up and wanted me to do give him some head. I refused. When my bf walked in I took him in the kitchen and told him what had happened, and he said I should've done it cuz not doing it was a form of disrespect.
