Does it make sense for people not to follow certain rules, because they're of a different faith? Should a person feel justified in committing adultery, because he (or she) is not a christian? Shall I steal my neighbor's car because I don't agree with christianity? Must you be of a particular faith to know that it's wrong to take a life? Is there any logic to that?

When you lie and cheat, steal from your neighbor, become so consumed with hate and jealousy that you set someone up for failure or kill another human being, manipulate situations for your own purposes, and all the rest of it, you are living your life like a slithering snake, and it doesn't matter which faith tells you that.

No, but it does make sense to ask them why they don't follow the rules of their own religion.

For instance: In Islam, the prophet says that you shall not make war on the innocent, and you shall not attack people who are not fighting you.
You shall punish a man according to his crimes, save that you can not take his head.

I've often wondered why, if muslim's believe this, they walk into a crowd of shoppers and blow themselves up, and I've wondered why they always seem to take great pleasure in cutting off people's heads.

Sure,if you like beating your head against a wall. I think it's insulting to ask a question like this to someone who practices any religion. It shows disrespect and belittles them, and implies that they are stupid and that you have the right to tell them what to do. We each have the right to believe as we wish and follow whatever rules we choose. I don't believe in following "rules" laid down by anyone else spiritually. That's when the mind closes and the brainwashing begins.

Of course not... That's ridiculous.

A rule of Islam asks the beleiver to attend prayer five times daily... Would it make sense for a Muslim to ask me to abide by that rule?

LOL

I mean, damn, I haven't got the foggiest idea where to find a mosque around here and I haven't even got my own little matt.

Not at all. I see it primarily from conservative Christians, but I'm guilty of it myself occasionally. Conservative Christians, as a group, just don't have a lot of "live and let live" in them, you know? Yet I always hope they can, because after all, that's my attitude.

I can't imagine doing it myself, but I see it so much here. It's really quite an embarrassment.
