I am trying to find a ancient myth that is similiar to a myth of modern times. Or it could be a little older just not ancient. It has to be in religion.

the easiest one is the virgin birth, that has been done lots and lots of times. Athena popped out of the skull of Zeus for example.

In Genesis 6:1-4 there is recounted a Biblical myth about the "sons of God" having children with the daughters of men thus producing the Nephilim. They were thought to be giants. This is commonly believed to be mythical by most Christians.

Modern myths that may correlate are perhaps Jack and the Beanstalk where there is a giant. I would think any myth that includes giants or super-humans. Or you could go to any of the Greek or Roman heroes born of human women through intercourse with their gods like Jason.

1) That depends on your definition of mythology and religion. Generally speaking, they are synonyms. To the people who followed them, ancient mythologies were "actual religions," just as much as modern religions are to modern theists. 2) In the next century or so, I think most of the world will have moved on. Some new religions will have risen and others will fall, but I think that the gradual shift from theism has begun. 3) An excellent question, which I not being a theist cannot answer.
