(Is the term "Fundie" inflamatory?)

Are you a "Fundie"?

If yes, how do you define that term?

Are we all "Fundies"?

Fundamentally what?

Is this line of questions "inflamatory"?

I've been discussing the origin of HIV with a number of young people.

The scientific view is that it evolved from similar viruses (simian immunodeficiency viruses) that commonly infect animals similar to humans such as chimpanzees and other primates. We know a fair bit about how viruses evolve, and the ways their genes can naturally change over time. There's a lot of evidence to support this scientific view. Kids with a basic understanding of evolution seem to get this.

But some kids believe that living things have to have been created or intelligently designed. This means either HIV was made by God as part of His Plan, or evil but intelligent humans made it. The former hypothesis implies to me a theology of a capricious and psychopathic deity; the second has more in common with the delusional belief systems of paranoid schizophrenia. Neither "theory" has evidence to support it.

Is "intelligent design theory" benign?

I know the American Civil War is reenacted all the time. Which I think is rather funny. I was wondering if there is any other war anywhere else on the globe that is reenacted; and if so, is it to the degree of the American Civil War? I do not understand why a country would be so enthused about its civil war.

My father lost both his parents to forms of cancer when he was still young (his mother at 11 and dad at 20-something).

Iasked him the other day what it was like to watch his father waste away- apparently he was so far gone that they unhooked him from his support and it still took him a fortnight to starve. For the last month he could not speak or move, could not feed hmiself or use the toilet and did recognise even his own son and daughter.

My dad, who is a tough old-fashioned sod of the old school, said that if he'd had the chance he would have finished off his old man with a pillow as they'd discussed it, but they were never alone for long enough.

What are your opinions on this, and please try to be understanding? Also, what do you think would have actually happened to my father? Would the doctors, in actuality, have pressed some sort of charge or do you think they would have understood? This was in the 70s.

Thanks!

why do we read so much anti semetic stuff in the gospel of john?

Let me give you the reason,

The hate that Germans had towards jews goes back thousands of years in history , and the Bible was put together mainly by Germans in German monasteries and there is very good proof to support the idea that the gospel of john was altered by jew hating germans who used the name of jesus to insult jews.

Muslims did the same when they wrote the koran by adding terrible anti semetic views that justifies the murder of jews and even christians.

As a result we see how Hitler had over 3 million jews gassed and we still see jews been attacked by muslims.

any comments from my friends?

What did you think of it? I still have read flags up with some things in the book, but let me tell you this if that book was from Jesus we will be going home sooner than you think. If you have not read it read it, and let me know what you think. I am still confussed about that book. I know you cannot believe everything you read or hear, but this woman claims Jesus took her spirit out of her body in 1996 and took her to Heaven and showed her some parts and even showed her her own mansion that is equsite.(however it is spelled)She is a Korean American who loves Jesus and is obedient to him. Jesus told her that he is coming sooner than most people think, and Jesus never gave her a date or year. Worth reading. It is called Heaven is so real.

I get this over and over again. There are Christians who insist that when non-believers deny the existence of God, they do so out of fear that he truly exists.

If a person suspected that there exists a supreme being, how could they possibly plan to simply argue God out of existence (given its supremacy)? Science is not faith-based. Conclusions come from available data.

Is it not that these Christians are assuming everyone experiences spiritual undercurrents as they do, and are projecting their own insecurities?

*this is "dedicated" to the people who have used this argument which i have seen many times on this site :P lol

EVEN if he did (which i highly doubt because his own daughter has announced that this is a lie) what difference would it make to the theory of evolution?

science doesn't really rely on the personal beliefs of scientists but on evidence! there are mountains of evidence to support evolution!!

why do people use this argument?

This question is not meant to be despiteful and simply seeks opinions of non-Christian people about Christianity.
As a "non-Christian", what is your opnion of this faith? Do you think they are misguided (because your particular faith is the true one)?
Please note that this question is not meant to injure or advocate any particular doctrine; I have asked the same question about two different faiths already and this was the last one.
Intelligent answers will be welcome. Thank you
