You have to earn a knighthood through some sort of contribution to society (civil servants and people in the military are often knighted) and live in the UK or a British colony to be eligible.
Or the easy way is to change your name by deed poll. In 1992 or 1997 someone running for parliament against Sir Nicholas Lyell tried to change his name to 'Sir Nicholas Lyell' to confuse voters. You might be able to change your first name to 'Sir', like 'Prince Michael Jackson'.

Well firstly you have to be either British or a citizen of a country where the Queen is head of state. Then it's the government that really gives out Knighthoods. With the Cash for honours affair still fresh in our mind, a few million pounds to the Labour party should do it.

Also, if you were a citizen of The British Commonwealth of Nations, for example Canada, The Bahamas, Barbados, etc deserving this honor, the Government in your country could reccommend you to Her Majesty the Queen for Knighthood.

Sorry, Little Mr. You have to earn a knighthood in the eyes of the Queen. Not a chance in Halifax, my friend.

You need to so something spectacular. Normal charity raisers get an MBE so a knighthood is rarer. Are you American? You can only use the title 'Sir' in the UK, so for example Steven Spielberg can only be Sir Steven here. Don't get your hopes up!

You have to be knighted by a king or queen. Do something to impress Queen Elizabeth, but unfortunately I doubt you have much of a chance.

You could go for a name change so your first name is actually Sir and your current first name becomes your second name

You have to pay the government several million pounds. If you fancy bribing, sorry, donating a little more you could even get a seat in the house of lords.
If you want to do it the old fashioned way you have to do many many good deeds, like running a large charity, or make an otherwise significant contribution to society.

I have never heard of anyone outside of Briton ever being
Knighted. The Brit's that have are some rock stars who have
made lots of money for their country, Elton John. Mick Jagger.
Of course, you can go to court and have your first name
changed to sir, if that is your ambition in life. We can even
call you a cab, if you'd like.
