(Is the term "Fundie" inflamatory?)
Are you a "Fundie"?
If yes, how do you define that term?
Are we all "Fundies"?
Fundamentally what?
Is this line of questions "inflamatory"?

Dear "Loka" - I am from two of your (those) groups. -- While I am now removed, I must profess that only the upper echelons and lower echelons of those groups are what I understand as "Fundies".
We middle folks have hopefully sifted out most of the non-Christian teachings of those organizations; consequenting our departures.

"Bonsai" explained it somewhat better than I did.
(However, I have concentrated my efforts on the original Bible scrolls and the actual words and teachings of Jesus; I am suspicious of all other Bible verses.)

I am a fundamentalist Christian.....from the Christian perspective, a fundamentalist has traditionally referred to any follower of Jesus who believes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and who believes in its literal interpretation and fundamental teachings.... the term is often used to be a subliminal imflamatory and I am sure is also used by those who fling the term in the face of Christians, having no idea what it even means....
We do not enjoy persecution, but deem God's glory and obedience to Him to be of more importance, and trust that some will come to the knowledge of the truth,by His word.....unashamedely spoken through his followers.
Contrary to popular opinion....we do not hate Homosexuals or any one who opposes the commands of God...We are simply way-showers....not infallible, hyopcritical, bigots

They take offence to being called fundies when you back them into a corner...........which happens with just about every question that gets put to them.
Foundamentalism is a rigid adherence to dogma, without question, and an intolerance to other views.
Fundies often accuse atheists of being fundamentalist, but this is not valid, as we are open to new findings of evidence that science is constantly presenting.
Fellow primate........the only way that we can all be classed as fundies is that we are all fundamentally apes.
Now for a true fundie, that's inflamatory!

I'm not sure whether I could be called a "fundie" or not. I believe the Bible is truly God's word -- so if that makes me a "fundie," so be it.
To be honest, I've met other Christians who scare me, though (and that's really saying something). I've found it's best to change the topic and speak their own language: around here, we say "so how 'bout them O's, hon?" (For the uninitiated, this is a polite inquiry regarding the hearer's judgement of the Oriole's performance on the ballfield.)

From the Media perspective, a fundie is like the Rev Fred Phelps...enough said there I think...even non-believers know this guy is a joke! People like this cannot have a normal conversation without them telling you which room in hell you will be in...not really sure how they would now that as they haven't seen the guest registry (or maybe they have...)
Shouldn't all believers be fundimentalists in regards to the Gospel...everything else you can agree to disagree about...

No, not all Christians are fundies. A fundie is typically a self-proclaimed "Jesus Freak" who spouts half-understood scripture at the drop of a hat. Usually heavily right-winged Christian, who tries to force his religion and ideas down other people's throats. Fundie comes from the word fundamentalist or by their Latin classification Homo Phobius; a subspecies of humanity distinguished by their phobia (simultaneous fear and hatred) of most people who differ from them in any way, based on their extreme religious conviction.

I've found a question may be intended as peaceful but will be interpreted as a hate-filled attack.
Former fundie(but not hard-core). I was told I had to accept the bible as the truth so I stopped asking any question that might make me doubt. (agnostic now)
Hard-core fundie, the man at church who can't get over his second divorce because Jesus said divorce is only acceptable when the woman cheats.(he's OK with the first one because she cheated) His 2nd wife didn't cheat, she just got sick of his bible-thumping fundie butt and left him. (Oh and he can't see that, he sees her as thinking it was all a joke)
I suppose there is something we are all fundamental about. (not all Christians are Christian fundies, does that make sense?)
Not inflammatory to me.

It does not matter what types of questions I am asked ( as a christian fundamentalist) I believe the word of God to be infallable.
And if anyone says something bad about being a bible fundie or whatever I just say "Thank you!"

Probably the term "fundie" is considered at least disrespectful, if not inflammatory.
A peaceful question would be any that started with "What is your explanation for . . ." and continued with one of the contradictions you perceive in the creation story. Ask about the radiocarbon dating of fossils, for example. But don't project your disbelief in whatever they answer: you want their explanation, whether or not you are likely to believe it.

I am a proud "right-winged,fundamentalist,conservative,christian"
(a true "fundie")
pro-baby (life)
pro-life (US government doesn't need to euthanize defenseless people without a trial).
pro protecting gun ownership (corrupt people won't give theirs up).
much less government intrusion

etc,etc.
not really
let a totally tolerant (100%) PC person discribe a "fundie"
