Questions that have short titles but people are writing novels in the details sections? Does anyone really want to read that much before they come up with an answer?

Arabic is the language I want to learn for many reasons, including being part Arab. I want to learn Farsi, because I want to be able to read the poems of Rumi and Hafiz in the original language. Also, my serious boyfriend is Persian. Uh, Don't tell me I can't, I won't listen to that. Can't I learn them in a side-by-side complementary way? Is there a technique you linguists out there have used with some success? I can already sort of read both, though the vowels are confusing to me. I haven't been in a classroom setting for either yet, so I will have to wait till I can to use that method...

Because all you get is text from Websites like Wikipedia. That is often a copyright violation. Copy-and-pasters frequently get their answers rated as "best answer", earning them 10 points, though an answerer who put some effort in real resarch don't get the reward they deserve.

Maybe, just maybe the Encyclical written in 1968; Humane Vitae got it right when it said:

the man, growing used to the employment of anti-conceptive practices, may finally lose respect for the woman and, no longer caring for her physical and psychological equilibrium, may come to the point of considering her as a mere instrument of selfish enjoyment, and no longer as his respected and beloved companion.

could it be that artifical birth control has aided in the demise of our culture?

I really feel ashamed that I am gay. My mom knows and she said that she is 100 percent ok with it. I don't have any opposition of any kind in my family but I still feel so ashamed. I am so afraid of coming out to the world but at the same time, I want to find support groups. I'm just too scared to explore that communtiy. Is there any way I can ease into it and learn to love myself? Is it weird that everyone accepts me, but I don't?

If you know any that do, can you please smack them upside the head????

1. 90% of colognes stink like some sort of ammonia bathroom cleaner. Axe is the worst. If you are a male between the ages of 11 and 14, and you want to appear more adult, do not shower yourselves in Axe. Everyone knows only middle schoolers and hs freshmen take Axe showers.

2. Lots of people are allergic to excessive perfume and cologne. Don't they know it's rude to walk around like you just bathed in Old Spice? They could trigger an allergic reaction.

3. If you have a good sense of smell, and have managed to find a non-offensive-smelling cologne, ONE OR TWO SPRITZES IS ENOUGH!!!

4. If you've just finished excersizing and are all sweaty, spraying cologne WILL NOT COVER UP THE SMELL. It will only make you smell ten times worse. Taking a shower will take the smell away, cologne will not.

And yes...women that do this are annoying too.

My uncle is gay and I'm all right with that, it's his choice. But I always hear people say how wrong it is for people of the same sex to love each other. There are also those who say they're sinning, because God strictly said it was wrong. I believe God would have grown as we his people have grown to look at different things a certain way. Is that the right thing to believe in?

I know that most people from Argentina are full-blooded Europeans. I am Colombian and I am a full-blooded European. I know there must be other people in South America [excluding the Argentines] who are only "White."

If Christians believe the New Testament over rules the Old Testament, for example it’s OK to eat pork, then why do they want the 10 Commandments in every courthouse? If they are part of the Old Testament do they still count?

If the Old Testament is no longer valid, why to they continue to quote Leviticus to beat up gays, but then they eat Pork BBQ and work on the Sabbath? (Working on the Sabath is a death penalty offence in Leviticus; I wonder what that means for NASCAR and the NFL? Aren’t they working?

I mean, is the christian religion so messed up that you can't get two people to agree on anything?

Sounds like when it comes to scripture, it's a field-day.

I would like the religious people here to read this news story. There are so many like it that you cand find everyday. At one time religious people was burning poeple at the stake because they did not believe in god or stoneing them to death. Rapping little boys and thinking that god is comming in a space ship following a comit. There are so many wrong things that has been done in the name of religon that churchs are very scary to most people. Why say you was drunk and did it and did not know what you was doing. When you can just say it is gods will.

So check out this link and my above statment and tell me why you think that this god thing that you believe in will be here in 100 years. I feel it will be found out to be a scam for power and money and will one day be ban every where. Creapy people if you ask me. .Never know what country they will try to attack next and kill everyone because someone don't believe the same way.

You guys and gals scare the hell out of me.

I have various friends who have approached me repeatedly about becoming "saved" over the years. Notwithstanding the fact that I spin them in a loop with the Bible every time they toss it at me, they keep coming back. In the end, if I prove their concepts, testimonies, and witnesses flawed by the words of the prophets and apostles, they invariably become indignant, as if I had offended God himself. Mind you, I believe in God. I simply don't believe in ..... well ..... their concept or understanding of God. If I'm ever to be saved, I'll leave it to God to make that determination. Am I wrong? Do they have a monopoly I don't know about?

Even in a tribal community where everyone does their 'fair' share, there is still someone handing out what your fair share is. That person has some power...

Does such a society exist? Where everyone is absolutely equal? Is it possible?
