I guess some people are just ignorant. They feel that they must showcase their ignorance.

If the question is ask in a respectful manner I think not. I am puertorican married to an african-american. If we don't asks these questions then we how are we to learn about each other? How am I as father of two boys that are of mixed race suppose to teach my sons that men of all races should be judge individually, by their actions.
I get comments all the time where I'm bunched in with Mexicans, because that's all people here know. Does it bother me... Sometimes, but I try to EDUCATE these poor american educational system students that there are many spanish speaking countries in the world with their own differences in culture, & customs.
If we don't ask these question then we let the red necks, kluckers, & every other group that think they are the chosen ones win. That I hope never happens in my generation.

It is normally religious people that are like that. They believe that god set a master race and it is theirs. It is too hard for them to believe in any other way because it is how they were taught. It is a shame that they will die one day after living a life of hate and find out that either there is no god or that god is not the same race as they are and they are going to go to hell anyway.

Actually no discussion is a waste. It gets things out in the light for some honest discussion. Yes I know sometimes it turns ugly and can lead to flaming, but for the most part I think it's good to discuss and embrace both similarities and differences, which can help to foster understanding.

I agree with Oklatom...discussion is beneficial and should be encouraged. It is interesting to see the wide range of opinions and definitions people use in discussing race topics.
