Why do you think prayer is ineffective? You are not meant to get everything you ask for.
Read the lyrics to this song...Unanswered Prayers, by G.Brooks.
Just the other night a hometown football game
My wife and I ran into my old high school flame
And as I introduced them the past came back to me
And I couldn't help but think of the way things used to be
She was the one that I'd wanted for all times
And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine
And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again
Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers
She wasn't quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me
Inn her eyes too it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn't much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what he's doin' after all
And as she walked away and I looked at my wife
And then and there I thankedd the good Lord
For the gifts in my life
Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers
Some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers .

How can people be so rude in answering. Geez.
1. Sin. Isaiah 59:2 Sin separates us from God.
2. Forgivenes. Unforgiveness toward another will keep prayers unaswered.
3. God's will. We should not ask in prayer what is not God's will. (1 John 5:14-15)
These are the three main reasons that I believe cause prayer be ineffective.

Prayer isn't ineffective; it's your unbelief; If you go to the Lord in prayer and you just giving "lip service", you don't feel that your prayer will be answered then, sure, it will be ineffective; However, the Bible also say that the "prayers of the righteous availeth much" meaning if a child of God who lives right comes to God and prays "in His will" and is sincere, He will answer; He may not answer right off the bat, then there are instances that He has, but no prayer is ineffective; I hope that helps.

Prayer is effective. We just don't always get the answer that we want and think that God has not heard our prayers. Their have also been studies that show prayer or meditation actually changes how the brain works. I don't think it can be a quick "Dear God, please let me win the lottery some time soon" type of thing. I think you have to think about the word of God and spend some time doing it, at least five minutes. Part of prayer is also thanking God for all of the blessings in your life. Some days I have to think hard about the blessings I have, as some days (weeks, months) are just terrible. It is important though to find the good things in your life and just thank God for them instead of asking for more. Well, I wish you all the best, and will keep you in my prayers.

prayer is not ineffective. God hears every prayer you pray. however, He doesn't answer some prayers because the results would be bad, (imagine if everyone prayed to win the lottery) and sometimes He doesn't answer prayers as soon as we want, He waits for the right time.

Is been effective for me, so I'm gonna keep on doing it.I know that God answers my prayers.♥
Even from a psychological perspective prayer is effective because positive thinking has a great effect on a person. It can be a stress reliever. Mentally, self reassurance, prayer or meditation is proven to do wonders for stress relief and overall outlook on life.
(and I'm not talking about prayers about wanting materialistic things, I'm talking about true prayers that come from the heart, prayers of worship, faith and verse meditation)
They calm the mind after a busy day and are food for the soul.

well, if you pray for something you want, then that's being rude and spoiled. But if you pray from the heart and pray for hope, then god will work something out. everything happens for a reason, and dont forget the little thing called karma. remember that he's answering prayers.. not giving things away for free. god finds ways of answering peoples prayers but if he just gives them out without thinking twice... i have no idea what the world would be like. he ANSWERS prayers, and you might not even know it. some prayers are better left alone. yeah i admit, blaming God for thinngs, but when i look back, i actually thank him. people pray mostly of envy, that's why no one thinks they are beautiful. it's probably questions like these is the reason God does'nt answer your prayers... think about it.

Because you have to really believe in him and be truly faithful. God answers all prayers but at the right time. It also depends on what you are praying for. You just can't ask for a million dollars or stuff like that.

Life is a battle between good and bad, darkness and light, positive and negative. Both are necessary. Don't give up...whatever it is your praying for, don't give up. Pray from the heart and pray powerfully and if you still don't recieve an answer, stick at it. Don't ever think it's a reflection on you if you recieve no answer because God would love to speak to you if only a clear communication channel could be found. Best of luck to you my friend.

Because god is just pretend. When you pray your just talking to yourself and the answers come from your own brain. Think about this - A hypothetical person, we'll call him "Jim", has a mother in the hospital who may die, Jim then prays as hard and often as he can. Jim gets his church of thousands of people to pray also. His mom dies. Why did god fail Jim's mom? It was gods will,t was his mom's time to go. No amount of praying could have saved her because it was god's will. Well if it's gods will and he's going to do whatever he wants to do anyway, what is the point of praying? It was his mom's time to go. With praying you get about a 50/50 chance of it working and it has no basis in reality. So to answer your question. There is no such thing as gods.
