I broke up with this woman last October because she was too clingy and boring. But even to this day she still wants to get back together. She will not accept that I've moved on.

This has made me lose all respect I ever had for her. Its pathetic to be so desperate and to want someone who doesn't want you. Sick...

What exactly does this mean? How do you fake a relationship? And I'm sure there are women who do it to.

I know this is a stupid out of context question. So don't even go there...thank you very much. :-)

But it attracts my attention about the frequency of thumbs down here. So I have several questions:

1- Why or when do you give thumbs down?
2- It is a gender issue, or because you despise a certain contributor?
3- What is the point? Do you think it makes a difference?
4- Do you use it as a way of "harassment"?
5- Should we ask Yahoo to get rid (sp?) of the thumbs down?

Other?

You want to be equal right? What says it is the man's duty to do nice things for you like holding the door, pulling out a chair, paying your rent...etc.....

Just before I asked this, my mom was complaining about how she doesn't have any water (we're in the library) I said that there's a water foutain downstairs. But she said she wanted bottled water. I watched a sixty minute end cap thing with that old guy who I can never remember the name of. He was talking about bottled water, and the fact that women like it more than men. Why?

Applicable to feminist theory. It is disheartening to me to see women state that they think a woman can be into chasing bad boys and it doesn't impact her feminism. To me, that's like a chem dep counselor saying their current alcoholism doesn't impact their counseling. What's up with this?

To the people who claim that it is never acceptable for a man to hit a woman, I have a few questions for you.

Is it ever acceptable for a woman to hit a man?
If so, why does it work for women only and not for men?

If a man should suffer the most severe consequences for hitting a woman, should a woman who hits a man also suffer the same consequences?
If not, why is it one way for women and another way for men?

Keep in mind when answering that men and women are considered both by law and by social standards as equal. If you suggest that men and women are not equal, do you support and promote equality for women (voting rights, salary, etc.)?
If so, why the double standard?

For those whose answers are not applicable to the questions, please spare me your opinions.

I realize pretty or cute females just date guys who are not good looking or just because they feel they dont deserve being with a handsome guy. I am a handsome guy but, I never had a girlfriend because one reason, I am deaf in one ear and heard of hearing in the other. Well, I do socialize etc but I have many theories in females growing up studing them and their behavior around males. I think I found out why females dont wanna look at a handsome guy... They are afraid they dont deserve them or just scared... like pass out maybe? A load of females that are below adverage just easily look at handsome guys.
I do see some females smile at me and stare at me but they are not my type... or are they playing a game? I see the type of females I am attracted to just become shy or hang out with jerks or really muscular guys...
My father tells me, if you see a pretty girl at the bar and she is not being talked by, its because the guys are scared to approach her... talk to her. Same for males...

When I get really angry, I often get upset and cry. I can think of things I want to say to get my point across and it sounds great in my head, but I am not able to express myself because I am in tears and am trying to make myself stop crying. Do any other women have similar stories that have overcome this? I am starting a business career and I know this will be a problem. I need to learn how to control my tears and stay calm enough to express myself professionally.

True or False? Why or Why Not?

I have a curious question for all the women here. What have YOU done in the last week to help a man? Or what nice thing have you done for a man?

**NOTE**: Not a boyfriend, husband or father. What have you done for a man who is not serving you in some way?

there is absolutely no doubt that women have it easy compared to men. all kind of women of all ages are considered attractive by men. the percentages of women most men find attractive are really high compared to the percentages of men women find attractive. if you don't believe me, look my questions about this.

and who do you think should be more worried about aging? women in their 30s and 40s are considered very attractive, even by guys in their teens and 20s. you're always hearing about guys fantasizing about their teachers and theirs friends' moms. GIRLS in their teens and early 20s never look at guys over 30. and women in general find more guys under 25 sexy than guys over 25.

women only think they have to look like supermodels to be attractive. the truth is guys have different preferences and even the average and below average girls are considered hot by a lot of guys.

For years I have heard many of women complain that american men are sexist when they dont believe in paying them equal, promoting them, or treating with equal respect.
Yet many of these women fail to acknowledge that there are areas where men are more lenient on women or even make excuses to justifywhy treating women better than men is not discrimination.
1. One example of that is selective service.
2. Another issue is the criminal justice system. If a woman like debra lafave sleeps with an underage boy we are willing to take any excuse as to why she did what she did however we wuld not do the same for a male. The same can be said about capital punishment. Many states such as texas, virginia, and others who hand out the death penalty quickly for male murderes are very rare to hand down a death sentence for a woman under the same circumstances.

In our society it's not so apparent as it may have been 100 years ago, but I remember especially growing up and in high school that idea was still there. If a woman is beautiful and intelligent, she has so much going for her, if a woman is ugly and intelligent, she's only worth so much. Even other woman have this over-sexed ideas, even beautiful woman who complain about it! They all try don't they?

Sometimes I wish I was invisible or that I could disquise myself as a man, so that I could be human and it's so frustrating because it's not so blantantly obvious anymore is it? Sometimes, I'd rather be dead than be a woman these days.

My husband has a friend named Mark. My husband, Mark, and myself have hung out on numerous occaions. All three of us get along very well and are pretty good friends. [I'm a tom-boy, so guy friends are more my cup of tea. And I usually get along with guys better as well. I 4-wheel, fish, hike, watch football, and drink beer, not to many women want to do those things with me, anyway...] Well Mark is always talking about how he just wants him and my husband to go four wheelin sometime, like a guys day or something. I guess it kinda hurts my feelings (that would be the girl in me right there). So my question is... Why must guys do guy ONLY things sometimes? It really frustrates me... and I think it's stupid.

1. ‘The cultural gender belief system has influenced the ways in which difference and sameness has been studied in men and women. Early researchers’ conceptualizations of masculinity/femininity conformed to a bipolar view. The more contemporary plethora of research on masculinity/femininity and expressivity/instrumentality has created a body of knowledge that accepts these as coherent and measurable constructs. There are many definitions and instruments developed to measure them.’

2. The Bem Sex Role Inventory (Bem, 1974), are used to assess the degree to which men and women have internalized the gender stereotypic personality traits of agency–instrumentality (i.e., male stereotypic traits) and communion expressivity (i.e., female stereotypic traits). Engaging in gender-typed behaviors is assessed using the Sex Role Behavior Scale (SRBS; Orlofsky, 1981) and its short form companion (Orlofsky & O’Heron, 1987).

We know the majority of divorces are initiiated by women:

‘Men who display high hostility and strong conformity to masculine gender roles--what the literature calls "gender role conflict" (GRC)--may cause distress to others, particularly their wives, a recent study indicates.
Past research on men suggests such conformity limits their emotional lives and has linked high GRC with lower self-esteem, increased anxiety and depression, hostility toward women, fear of intimacy, homophobia and reluctance to seek help…

…men displaying hostility in the videotaped discussions scored high in GRC in their own and their wives' ratings, and wives with the most marital dissatisfaction and depression rated their husbands highest on GRC measures of restrictive emotionality, power, success, competition and restrictive affectionate behavior between men…
