Or "Feminine"

Its not what they call me, it is what they mean by it. If I'm doing something girly, and they call me that, I suppose it is a compliment. I personally admire femininity a great deal in women, and don't feel it is an insult in men, I just don't have much femininity at all.

Unless it was someone they knew was teasing, most men would be insulted if someone called them "girly". There would be no reason to call a man that unless it was meant as a tease or an insult. If someone told me I was getting in touch with my feminine side, I would not view that as an insult. I can admire and respect women and what they, as a gender, can bring to the world. But I have a masculine identity and I am proud of that aspect of myself as much as any other. So, for me, "girly" would be insulting. Probably along the same line as a woman being called manly.

I doubt it, but mostly because I don't think anyone has called me girly without it being obvious that they were joking. I can't picture someone saying it to me as a serious insult because my physical traits are all pretty masculine, and I'm pretty rough around the edges. If I were a more feminine type of man, then I may get offended. The only way I can picture someone calling me girly is if I were being kind or considerate to someone (for example passing up a night with the boys to stay in the with a girlfriend or going out of my way to do something so I don't hurt someone's feelings). More than likely the insult for these would be "puss-y," but if you're a guy and think that being considerate of others feelings and spending time with a girl you care about makes me a pussy, then you're welcome to step in the ring with me for a few rounds. You'll change your mind.

I was more embarrassed than insulted when people called me girly after I lost a bet to the cheerleaders at my school and I had to do a cheer in a uniform!

I become insulted women someone calls me "Girly", they should be insulted when someone calls them "Manly". If not we have to work extra hard to make it happen.
