Thinking of them alive in tide pools (rockpools in UK English) rather than on the plate.

I know almost all animals are colored to protect them from predators. I have seen some beetles that are black, but their shell shines blue, green, and purple on the black, and it's weird that it is so pretty. I cannot imagine why that coloring would evolve, and how it benefits their survival. I apprecaite any help, especially if it's not too graphic, because bugs actually freak me out.
Thanks!

It's a black and white bug/insect...I know, it's a black and white copy. Well, My camera on my phone was a little too fuzzy. So I picked 'em up and plopped him on the copy machine, scanned the photos, and there we have it. He's about 2 1/4 inches long, 1/2 inch wide, and one of his antennae is 1 1/4 inches long. He really is black and white....Notice the little horns on his neck, if you can...very tiny. Antennae look like ants legs. He has a split shell, I'm assuming has wings because of it. I'm very curious about this one.

I personally think that this bear would mop the floor with any large constrictor that exists on the planet. But some nut cases in youtube are trying to say that a python or anaconda could kill a Kodiak Bear. I totally disagree! Large mammals like Tigers and Bears would pose a serious problem in the way of leverage for the snake. 90 psi or crushing force does the snake no good if it cannot coil around its victim. And it is impossible for it to coil around a large Bear or Tiger. They are not gonna simply sit there and allow the snake to throw coils around it. A bear would cut the snake into peices. A large Tiger would be able to bite the snake in half or cause some serious wounds that would force the snake to retreat. Tigers kill and eat large pythons all the time. No Python has ever killed a fully grown tiger. A cub was documented but never an adult. Whats with all these snake myths?

Don't ask where their fighting. They are in an anti-gravity arena so both animals are able to move freely about.

I keep seeing these beetle like things...they attach themselves to anything and will bust out of their own bodies/shells. I guess that it is shedding itself. Anyways when I go into the backyard every morning I see their shells every where. If anyone has any idea that what type of beetle this is, it would help me out a bunch..
