I hate them horrid little insects which only as far as i can see only live to be aggressive to humans

Wasps are incredibly valuable to the ecology, and even to humans. There are carnivorous wasps that kill other insects. There are carrion-eating wasps that eat the dead bodies of other insects -- they clean up a lot of mess.

There are wasps that pollinate plants, and there are parasitic wasps that kill insect pests.

You really would not like a world without wasps.

There are many species of wasps, many much tinier than the mud daubers we frequently see. They prey on other insects, many of which are harmful to crops and ornamental plants.

Their existence is population control. They prey on smaller insects. Without them, we would be overwhelmed with pests.

One more to add to Sandy's - they provide a larder for the grubs of the Ichneumon Fly.

I hate them too but what can we do about them, I don't think there is any chance of them going extinct (unfortunately) were just gonna have to put up with them.
