I have a nest in my roof of insects that reminds me of yellow jackets, but are larger. They have two back legs that hang much lower than other bees/jackets. (Almost like a wasp) Black and yellow markings. Can anyone help and provide a picture/web link for me to verify? Thanks!

There is an insect in my house and I was wondering what it might be. It has 6 legs, and 1 pair of wings. It's relatively small, and kind of looks like a mosquito. It's legs are black and white striped and it's nody is black. I live on Long Island and have never seen a bug like this before. Anyone know what it could be?

I found this huge caterpillar in my back yard. It is about 3 1/2 inches long, and as thick as my thumb. It's flesh colored (but is faint green on its underside, so it may have been true green at one point), not hairy or bristly, and has only 1 very small horn on the end of it. It has some very, very faint pale cream or yellow dots on the side of it (one on each segment), and the same color of lines going diagonal up its body.

Can you name this mystery creature? If you can, and find a pic on the web for me, then I'll give you the best answer points...

Thanks!

Some insects only live for a day, but then a tortoise can live for hundreds of years.

I work at a zoo, not as a keeper, but it seems to me that many of the keepers that work here are not very personable...some are downright rude to everyone. Why is that?

This summer, all the bumble bees we've seen around our yard have been unusually huge. And all of them have been having big problems flying. They look drunk. They'll get a tiny bit above the ground and then fall back down again. They'll try again and flip over. We've seen about ten like this and are beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with them. They're all coming from a a hole in our landlord's shed. Has anyone ever seen bees like this? Is it normal?
