There is an insect in my house and I was wondering what it might be. It has 6 legs, and 1 pair of wings. It's relatively small, and kind of looks like a mosquito. It's legs are black and white striped and it's nody is black. I live on Long Island and have never seen a bug like this before. Anyone know what it could be?

There are many, MANY different types of mosquitoes. It might BE one, just a type that you are unfamiliar with. There are even new, introduced species. It may be the Asian Tiger Mosquito.

A house fly. Be careful!! if it bites you, you will suffer from a serious disease.
