One branch of the dinosaurs evolved into birds but the dinosaurs themselves are extinct. It has been suggested that dinosaurs and birds should be grouped together in a super-class.

because they are extinct and about the birds evolving out of the dinosaurs I have never heard of that and even if they did that doesn't mean they are dinosaurs.

Because you can't find a dinosaur around. You can find some of their descendants (birds), but none of them. Hence they are extinct.
Another example are early hominids (like australopithecus). They are extinct, although their descendants (us) are still around...
Extinct means that the particular species is not alive anymore.

Are we cave men? Isn't homo erectus extinct despite its descendents having evolved into us?
Dinosaur means "terrible lizard"; are any birds "terrible" ?

dinosaurs are extinct, couse it was the main menu in caveman time, and didn´t left any. beside if there were dinos there wouldn´t be oil. no oil no modern life, birds are fine creatures that eventually will be extinct couse of uv-rays

you know the different like times- one example is jurassic. well, one of those- the ones with the actual dinosaurs was wiped out by something nobody knows(meteor, famine) then, different animals came back and evolved into birds

That theory is very recent and birds are small feathered things while dinosaurs are big and not seen much today.

roaches are the dinosaurs of bugs, as are mosquitoes.
also I always thought of alligators, turtles, lizards, snakes as dinosaurs also..
