i heat my home with wood.. and now i am getting nexts years wood in.. it is stacked in piles.. and a animal that looks like a fat squirel that stands on its hind legs.. appears once in awile.. over the years.. i want to know is this animal dangerous> when it spots me it goes back into the wood pile.. i wonder if it would bite a small child or me..

Woodchucks tend to be on the plump side and woddle when they run, easy to distinguish from chipmucks and squirrels. Chipmucks are usually smaller them squirrels and are brown with an obvious white coloration on their backs. Squirrels however come in gray and brown colors and can be mistaken as big chipmucks. They typically don't attack humans but like any animal, if they feel threatened or are protecting their babies, they will most likely attack.

woodchucks can be 10-12 inches including the tail, and are usually brown. They kinda look like beavers, but don't have the webbed feet and paddle tail. A woodchuck's tail isn't bushy like a squirrels.

They generally are harmless, we had a family of them under our deck, and fed them apples and bird seed. I'm sure they would bite if the felt threatened, but they would probably run for cover first.

It could be anything. A beaver, a woodchuck,
It could even just be a big squirrel.
