I am doing this program (it is due by Christmas time) where I adopt-a-family for Christmas. 2 girls and buying for the mom. One girl is 3 and the other is 12. I am giving them each 3 books (inculding mom), 4 toys, clothes, and a bathroom basket they can have there stuff inside it and the basket has there name on it. Do you think this sounds good? Any ideas on what clothes, toys, and bathroom supplies they will each need. Also I was thinking that instead of toys I get the mom a Boom-Box with some CD's. Does that sound good?

Im a first time mother and im wondering...

Ive read that doctors will cut the vagina opening a little so that the birth is easier and that we dont tear. After that, the doctor will stitch u back.
Is it possible to ask the doctor to stitch me up more, as in tighter, so that the vagina opening will be tighter.
Honestly, i dont want to be loose... and i do know that kegal exercises help.
Since im not an expert, can someone tell me... if ur loose to a guy, does that mean the vagina opening is loose? or the inside is loose? I seriously have no idea...?

I just had a sonogram and the tech told me she couldnt see the sex of the baby, but that 50% its a girl. I told my bf and he just got uset because the lady couldnt really see it and that she told me its 50% chance. I dont understand why she would say its a girl when they other half could be a boy. I am so frustrated I havent even bought anything for my baby because I was waiting to hear the sex and now I still dont know and its hard enough having my bf come down on me also about this. I want to request another sonogram. What should I do? Is there anyone in the same boat as me?

parent have the right to keep an older sibling from seeing their younger siblings? I am hoping to get custody of my younger siblings aged 7 and 5 if my mother and step father happen to die in the near future. I looked up child custody laws on the Internet and from what I found it seems like the courts never give custody of younger siblings to the older sibling but there is custody for grandparents. I don't want my siblings going to their grandparents because they will keep me from seeing my brother and sister and I don't want them to be thrown in foster care either and have my sister get pregnant by the time she is 12 or have something else happen to her if they were to get thrown in foster care. My step father smokes so I figure he should die soon enough. He smokes around 3-5 packs of cancer sticks a day. I haven't found any legal advice or help on the Internet and I know if my step father doesn't die and my mom does that I'll never get custody of my younger siblings.

...this isn't a pregnancy/parenting question. After someone posts a question, there are three symbols after it: a thumbs up; a thumbs down; and a "report it". Obviously, I know what they mean and what they're for. What I can't figure out, however, is how to use them. How do you rate an answer??? I click on it, and it does nothing....

I was only trying to help the kids.

Yesterday I took my 15 month old son to the park. First time I have in a while. My son was playing with a little girl who was about 2 yrs old her mom was ofcourse considerably younger then myself (Im 36) and she asked me "Do you have other children". I paused and changed the subject. The reason why I changed the subject is because on labor day of this yr my daughter passed away. She was 14yrs old and the light of my life the reason for 13 yrs that I woke up in the morning and the reason for every breath I took my world revolved around her (her brother was born 13yrs 1 month 15 days after her). 3 yrs ago my daughter was diagnosised terminally ill and was on a waiting list for a new set of lungs which we never got for her and had we got them no one knew if she'd be strong enough to undergo the transplant. Anyhow she beat all the odds from 12-03 until labor day of this yr and I was and AM so proud of her. On the thursday prior to labor day I found her unconcious and not breathing w spit

When my husband told his parents that I was pregnant they promised us a crib and other things that they had in storage from his sister's last baby. His mom also told him she would have a baby shower for us as this is his first child. In the last few months they've had a falling out over something stupid and now his mom is saying she isn't having a shower and hasn't given any of the stuff she said she would. I'm 32.5 weeks and would really like to have the babies room ready soon but I have nothing. I want to ask her if we are still going to get the things she has or if I have to go out and buy them. How can I ask her without being rude? I know I still have time but we're on a tight budget and I need to know so I can accommodate this expense into my budget. I don't want her to feel pressured and back away from us even more but I really need to know if we're still getting this stuff. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am currently 18 years old & engaged & I'm ready to start a family after marriage. I might be starting college next year to become an R.N.. I figure if I go for L.P.N. first and get pregnant atleast half way through I'll have a job before the baby comes. But there is a problem. My fiancee wants to wait 4 years. I'm ready to have one NOW but I know I should wait until atleast half way through my 1 year of college. But he wants to be able to go out & stuff (so he's not ready). How do I convince him how ready I am & try to help him become ready for fatherhood?

Thank you.

Let me guess I am to young to be tied down? Please don't give me those answers I am not here to hear that I am here with a serious question.
Thank you!

my baby is 7 1/2 weeks old. at bith he weighed 8lbs 7oz. when he went to the doctor at 1 month he weighed 13 1/2 lbs and pediatrician said his weight is off the charts.said he is healthy though just big.he is currently eating 4 oz but it doesnt satisfy him so he wants at least 5 every 2 hours. so i was told by doc to put some cereal in the bottle but he still eats every 2-3 hours 4 oz with the cereal. he cant even fit in his 3 month clothing hardly. is this too much? how do i keep him fuller longer? is this too early to introduce cereal on a spoon every once in a while? thanks

My son and i just bought a scale model of the space shuttel at the aeronautics show in Vegas last weekend. It's rated to carry a payload of 80 lbs and fly to about 3000', then deploy the cargo bay which comes back down by a parachute. It turns out my son fits perfectly into the cargo bay and only weighs 65 lbs so he's been bugging me to let him take a test flight. I've already tested the parachute and it works fine so i'm not worried about his safety from that standpoint. But it takes quite a bit of gasoline to get a full launch and they recommend adding a mixture of ethyl alcohol to boost the fuel mixture. They gave us a video of a test launch and what I'm concerned about is the big plume of smoke that envelopes the capsule for about 10 seconds before liftoff. He can hold his breath for about 2 minutes but it has me a little concerned. Is that exhaust toxic enough to worry about? It's really just the same thing that comes out of cars but it's just there's a whole lot of it. Thanks!

On occassion I see a home with a swimming pool hang out a sign for daycare services.

Maybe I am being unfair, but it looks to me like the people are wanting to supplement their income and child safety is a secondary concern. I think residental daycares should not have swimming pools. What do you think?

Alright first of all I am 8 weeks and 4 days along! First question is....is it alright to have morning sickness come one day and then the next be nautious but not throwing up? Second question...is it ok that my back aches...this isn't a sign of miscarriage is it? I read a lot of questions and don't really know what to believe. This is my first pregnancy and all of this is very new to me. I just want to feel better that I am not going to have a miscarriage. I don't have any bleeding or severe cramping. Just pressure in my adomine and feel things pulling. Thanks for all your answers!

Ive just gave birth to my 3rd child on the 7th of this month, a baby boy named Kyle, we already have 2 girls.
The thing thats bothering me is the fact that hardly anyone bought my baby anything, some people even came to visit without a card even, including my mum, and no one bought me anything at all, apart from my partner who got me a box of chocs but thats hardly thoughtful is it? All other people in the hospital were bought flowers, fruit baskets etc and I felt really feally upset to have not recieved anything at all, especially not even a bunch of flowers from my partner. He and others have usually bought me and my other children things when they were born.
The other thing is that my sister is law just had a baby too a few months ago, premeture, and everyone made sure they had the money to buy her and her baby something, they spent a fortune on her on flowers especially, including me and my partner, we bought her an expensive bunch and also the baby a biggish teddy. Wat u think?

I'm only in the 10th grade and me and my man were thinking about having a kid. He thinks I am too young for us to even be thinking about that but I feel so incomplete like I need one to love. Our situation isn't that good. We would be the only ones taking care of it... unless we go to live in his house where his cousins or my friendz over there would help take care of it but I don't want to go there cuz its like... i want us to start somewhere fresh just the two of us. Call me old fashioned but I think the love could hold us together.

I'm 24 wks along with my 1st. Advice from friends, family, and complete strangers has already started rolling in, along with awkward questions from total strangers. How to deal? I'd rather not be rude. For example:

When I tell people we're only planning on having one child, some of them act like it's a form of child abuse not to provide my kid with a sibling.

When strangers ask me about my breastfeeding plans. Yes, I plan on breastfeeding, but is it really everyone else's business??

People who try to talk me into or out of things like epidurals, cervical blocks, and natural, drug-free childbirth...and then there's the whole stay-at-home mom vs. working mom issue...all personal decisions...

I've even had little old ladies ask me about my bowel movements?!?

Just wondered how the rest of you dealt or are dealing with all that... Maybe the pregnancy hormones are making me extra annoyed...thanks :)

I go to this store constantly, and have a discount card with them, but now they employed a pregnant blond woman, and she is abominable.
She is heavily pregnant, seven or eight months, and she is constantly shouting and customers, splitting saliva and is abominably rude. If you ask her something, she bulges her eyes and started shouting and spitting. Even considering that she might be hormonal, it's not right.
What to do? One can't complaint about pregnant women, what if she needs money for the baby? But on the other hand, she is like shrieking fury at the tilt. She throws money and checks at you, as if trying to hit you.
I do not understand why her husband does not keep her closed at home to spare the public.
