When I read posts about IVF or international adoption, many people say that these options are stupid, and why not adopt one of the many homelss American kids. Where exactly are these kids? All of the couples I know have been waiting years and going through hell to find an American child. The kids I have seen in foster care are usually older, or a different race than I am, or developmentally handicapped, and I wonder, would all of the people who so easily suggest American adoption choose to adopt a child of a different race, 14 years old, with a physical or mental handicap? Or do people who have not faced adoption just not realize that American babies are a very rare commodity that usually take lots of money and many years to find?

Sometimes it's even as frequent as 1 1/2 hours!!?? Is this common? I can't get him to nurse longer than 10 minutes....usually it's only about 5 and he's a really vigorous nurser and he never wants the other side just one breast per feeding. When do they usually start to go longer between feedings? Thanks for any help!!

posted a question because i was having a problem with a neglectful childminder. Had loads of possitive answers but 1 person said i shouldn't have children if i'd rather go to work, what do you think?
is it best to stay at home & not bring anything financial into the home or should we be showing our children, especially our daughters that women have to help make money for nice things like a roof over our heads & money for food? I personaly work 3 days a week for the emergency services and yes i do enjoy my job but i also enjoy hearing my daughter telling her friends how mummy talks to sick people on the phone and sends them "nee naw cars".
Yes we have had trouble with an irisponsible minder and yes i feel guilty for my bad judgment in choosing her but should i just give up work?

Before you answer the story behind the name goes like this: We are having a boy and his original name was going to be Alton Tyler Edwards. But, my wife's brother was involved in a shooting and almost died. While he was in the hospital my wife told him that we were going to name our child after him. Alton is my middle name and also is my late grandfathers name. Her brothers name is Jon Thomas. Do you think it sounds right? I like it but want some feedback. Thanx!

They want his middle name to be my dads name which is Daniel. We are naming my son Dawson which is my boyfriends middle name. I DO NOT LIKE how Dawson Daniel sounds. I prefer Dawson Hunter. My mom says well Dawson is his side of the family why not have the middle name our side of the family. Is it wrong if i do not have a name from my side of the family??

when my now ex-girlfriend was in hospital giving birth yo our twins, her mother told the nurses to call her when it was time for the birth. only 1 birthing partner was allowed and i was not called, i was delberatley excluded from the birth and although this was 10years ago, there is not a day go by where my hatred for her and sheer upset still burns deep, ive never forgotten it. Why did she steal my 'father' moment? would other women have let their mothers push out the father of their kids or is it really my ex i should blame for letting it happen? i knew nothing and went home after being told nothing would happen that night, then later she was induced and her mother was called. should i carry a vendetta on my shoulder to pay back when the moment is right and tell everyone what she did, or is it really nothing? i still feel livid, upset and hurt about it. any ideas?

My wife is pregnant with our first child, a boy (thank God) and we're a little stuck on what to name him. He's due in April... So the problem is our last name is Clark so we want to give him something that goes well with that, but not something like John or James which would cause him trouble in the future... I've had to go these 28 years with the name Matt Clark, and believe me it's hard for people to find you out of the phone book with such a common name. My wife likes Jason and Elliot but I'm not so sure. Thanks for your help!
