Monozygotic twins are also known as Identical Twins. They come from one fertilized egg that splits into two.

Dizygotic twins are also known as fraternal twins. They come from two separate eggs that are fertilized by two seperate sperm.

monozygotic refers to identical twins, twins from one egg, considered a fluke of nature, genetics has no part in it. dizygotic refers to faternal twins, from two seperate eggs. sometimes genetics plays a part in this(a gene that tells the ovaries to release more than one egg). odds of dizygotic twins is 1:100

Monozygotic means that the twins emerge from single split cell and will be identical.

Dizygotic means that they are growing from two separate cells and will be fraternal or non-identical.
