It might be a good idea to wait a while until you put your little one in her big bed. It's an awesome idea as a gift and you can maybe include your little one in choosing her new bedding (ie princesses, Dora ect.) Once you do have your second the baby might end up sleeping in a basinet in your room or in a playpen for a while anyways. So you could possibly wait until your daughter is a little closer to two. She's a great sleeper now and you don't want to disrupt her great sleeping habits. She could start to wake up again at night! Best of luck with what you decide and best of luck with your second little one!

I'd say she's still a bit young.
I have two daughters, 6 and 4. I did not put the year old into a bed until she was almost 2. And then it was a toddler bed, not a full size bed. When she was 4 and the younger 2, she moved into a twin and the younger moved into the toddler bed (though she rarely stayed there, most of the time crawling in bed with her older sister). Now, they sleep on bunkbeds, though they always end up with each other on the same bunk.
The transition to a toddler bed is usually pretty easy if they've been sleeping in a crip because they are the same size and type of mattress.
You don't want to move her to a large bed until she's big enough to get in and out of it on her own. That prevents falls and injuries.

The best age for a big bed is about 2 or when your child starts climbing out of the crib. If you get one now you may find that your little angel who sleeps all night long becomes a night owl now that she can access all her toys and your entire house without any supervision while you are sleeping.

I have put my kids in a toddler bed at about a year.. we have had no problems... it takes a week or two to settle in but they do fine.. they love it.. They go in a twin bed at about 2-3 years old.. By then your "new baby" would be big enough for the toddler bed..
And if your worried about "escapees" runnin amuck at night just put a baby gate up in their room at night...

I'd say she was a little too young. My 18 month old just started sleeping in her toddler like two months ago. Being as though she's not walking, I really wouldn't put her in a big bed.

I'd keep her in a crib. She may not be walking around and stuff now. but she WILL. hehe Then you will run into the problems. Keep her in a crib.
