Has anyone out there done this? What do you think of it?

Instead of clamping and cutting the umbilical cord immediately or shortly after baby's birth, leaving it attached (with the placenta) until it falls off on its own (within a week or two)?

I am planning on doing this when my baby is born. Wanted to hear from others on this, see what the "knee jerk reaction" is, see how it went for others. And so forth.

Also anyone who knows of complications that could arise by this method, please provide me with references and sources.

Thanks so much for your time.

What foods are still off limits at 11 months old? A year old? I know now cows milk until one year- but what about yogurt and cheese? What are the limits? (obviously not high fat items) Also once converting to cows milk- do you get vitamin D? whole milk?

I have a close friend from highschool and his wife was recently pregnant. (I have never met his wife, but have added her as a friend on myspace.) At any rate, I text messaged my friend about two weeks ago and asked him if they had the baby. He told his wife was scheduled to have a c-section the very next day, and I asked him to call me when the baby was born. He never did, so two days later I text messaged him and asked "Is he as beautiful as we expected him to be? what did you name him? how is the health of your wife and baby?" He wrote back telling me they were fine. I checked his wife's myspace a few days later and saw pics. She wrote saying that the baby was born and that he wasn't doing too well and that he will be having surgery soon. I hadn't heard anything in a week so I checked again today and found out that their baby did not make it. I want to give them my condolences. How do I do that? Also do any of you have a bible verse or quote I can use when I write them?

My husband and I have 3 boys ages 12,10 and 3 months. We were supposed to go to NC (all of us) today and stay there through the new year for vacation. Well, my husband got called into work, so now last minute we cant go. The older boys were disappointed (we live in FL and they wanted some cold weather) so anyways, now we are just going to St Augustine for the weekend and just staying 1 night. (We live 3 hrs away from there) At first, I was thinking maybe the baby could stay with my mom because we are going to be going on a lot of tours and ghost tours at night...but the more I think of it, I dont know if I can leave him! Ive never left him before, we always do things as a family. What do you think and when did you first leave your baby for the 1st time? thanks :)

He has been sleeping with me half the night since he was born. He sleeps in his crib until about 1 or 2 am, then he cries and I go get him and bring him to bed with us. That has been the routine since he was born. Has anybody had an experience of their own similar to mine, and what did you do to change it?

My daughter is on solids and has been for over a month now. She loves her veggies and will eat almost anything.
I occasionally buy those jars of baby food as they are easier to take out and over the xmas period i have used them quite a lot as we spent a lot of time going around family and it was much easier.
My friend said i SHOULD NOT use baby jars and i should be cooking all her meals.
Will it harm her getting these jars? I use Hipp Organic baby jars and she gets a wide variety. Me and my partner also cook for her but my friend seemed disgusted at the thought of me feeding her jars!

(my daughter is on stage 2 jars as she isnt keen on the watery smooth things-i find it hard to get some home cooked things at the right consistency)

Does anyone else use jars?

just looking at them on the shelf the only thing I saw was portioning. The ingredients seemed to be consistently the same. Are they processed differently? like one more mushed than the other?

I've left my teen and college years behind me, but I'm still young and my friends are too. They all want to take me out clubbing on New Year's Eve, but I'm not exactly thrilled about the idea. Because I look younger than I am (I'm almost 24), I feel like one of those teen mothers who leave Baby behind with Grandma so they can party and drink. Granted, I won't be doing that (son will be with Daddy) but I feel like as a mother, I shouldn't want to go clubbing and hang around girls who will just get drunk in some sweaty club. I don't drink and there are other ways to have fun with the girls, such as going out to eat, etc.
What do you other Mommies think? Is it acceptable for a Mommy to be in a club with a circle of "Wooo! I'm so buzzed right now!" friends?

Last night She went to bed at 10, and woke up every 45 minutes, then at 2 am she woke up screaming, likke have never heard her scream before, untill about 3 when she fell back asleep. I called my doctors office but he is on hollidays until the 7th of january, so I am wondering if I should take her to the emergency room.

I am a mother of 5 month old girl. I am working full time. since i
could not gather enough milk for her i started giving one formula feeding a day. i pump 4 times at work and collect just enough for two feedings.
I have atravel coming up in end of January to Argentina. i will be away for five days. i have couple of concerns:
how do i collect enough milk for her five days need when i am barely able to collect for her couple feedings?
- i will be pimping on my travel. although it will be very difficult since i will be on road
- any advise on storing milk while i am on road in the day and will be returning to the hotel in the n ight?
- i will be traveling three places in Argentina. once i refrigerate milk how will i take it to next destination and can i refreeze the
milk again?
- how will i bring milk to USA. It is 14 hour of travel?
- what supplies do i need while i will be traveling for safely
storing and transporting milk?
- will my baby be back on my breast? Thanks
