how much is it to have a baby in different countries around the world??

When I gave birth 13 months ago in the United States the pregnancy and c-section delivery total came to just under $20,000. With insurance I paid about $4,000 out of pocket.

It's free in Canada where we also have publically-funded health care. My daughter had to be in the NICU for 3 1/2 weeks, so it would have been quite costly in the US. My estimates:
25 days x $10 000 in NICU = $250 000
C-section = $8 000
3 days hospitalized (for me) $6 000
Total estimate in the US -- $264 000

Cost as a Canadian = $0

i am in the us and just gave birth 3wks ago. my hospital bill for 3 days was $8600 dollars. i am thankful for insurance

It's free in the U.K. and we have private care available too...if you have the money...but the free care is very good and is what most people use.
