All she does is scream each time she tries to poop, and it's hard as anything! when she was younger and had it i used to boil fennel seads in water and then added her fomula that worked a treat, only i seem to be struggling now! please help.

Before you take anyone's advice, definately consult a pediatrician. Alot of "wives tales" are not great to do anymore. My advice following that would be to start with some juice. Maybe a total of about eight ounces of apple juice (100% juice always watch the sugar content), or prune juice. If that doesn't work, try the laxative for babies that you get at the store. I have never tried it, but my pediatrician did recommend it at one time. Also, talk to her doctor about a tasteless fiber additive. They are odorless and tasteless, and you can add it to the milk. It will help her stools to become softer. One more question for the doc, make sure she is breaking down the lactose ok, because she may have a problem with that as well.

For a quick fix, get a suppository. We've had to use it once or twice, and she's been able to go easily within a half an hour. For a more long term fix, try giving her a bit less milk. Offer her water, and maybe a bit of 100% fruit juice mixed with water. Find other sources of calcium-my little one loves broccoli. When she gets constipated, we give her some corn. Seems to work like a charm, too. I don't know if your little one can eat them yet (probably not) but sunflower seeds seem to help, too. I know how frustrating it can be. Good luck!

You could try prune juice mixed with water in a 1:10 ratio

and/or

Baby Massage - ive found this works wonders and relaxes them too. With 2 fingers rub small circles round in a clockwise direction just above the bellybutton. Repeat 5 times. Then take his legs and push them up to his chest and back x 5 then take both his legs bend them up and around. This stimulates the movement of the bowels.

She should still be drinking about a pint of milk a day but no more as this will make her very constipated. Try giving her freshly boiled, cooled water. some recommend adding brown sugar to it but i never liked the idea of giving my kids sugary water. You could try giving her some cereal that is full of fibre.

I had two kids with the same problem and each one was a different solution, my first one i put kero's syrup in with his milk and it loosen everything up for him, with the second child nothing worked so i took her to the chiropractor and she pooped right on the table and not a problem since, the doctor said it was because she was out of alignment. Hope it helps

I would try some fruit juice and maybe give her a bran muffin to nibble on. I would also speak to a nurse at your pediatrician's office. She may instruct you to use a suppository. Not a pleasant method but effective in most cases. I would get instructions though before I attempted that though!

the best thing to do is probably go see the Doctor... my lil girl used to be like that all the time and my dr. perscribed a stool softener(and it's makes her go more frequently so the stool doesn't have time to sit ther and harden ) for her that could be added to just about anything( water, milk, food, juice) it's completely tasteless... a laxitive might give your lil one diahrea and make her dehydrated so if you do go the BABY LAXATIVE route .. be careful .. make sure she gets plenty of fluids!! so i think you should just take her to see the Doctor! oh and light karo syrup ( like a teaspoon for 4oz. of water ) might work too... try it and good luck!!

speak to a nurse at your doctor's office. I had the same problem when my son was 2 months old and after several calls because nothing was helping permanently the nurse had to retrieve the book o' remedies and look up the random, obscure ones.

I have a baby of 2 months and wouldn't like to take anybody's advice on a similiar situation. It's better to ask a pediatrician.

Take care, and may God give her good health.

You can take a little warm soapy water (i used one of those
little bulb nose cleaners for babies) and using vaseline
give them a small enema. (Check with your dr)
Also in my sons bottle I put a spoon of clear karo syrup
in every other bottle when constipated.
Then used a spoonful in every 3rd of 4th bottle of the day
everyday to keep them from getting constipated.
