My daughter is on solids and has been for over a month now. She loves her veggies and will eat almost anything.
I occasionally buy those jars of baby food as they are easier to take out and over the xmas period i have used them quite a lot as we spent a lot of time going around family and it was much easier.
My friend said i SHOULD NOT use baby jars and i should be cooking all her meals.
Will it harm her getting these jars? I use Hipp Organic baby jars and she gets a wide variety. Me and my partner also cook for her but my friend seemed disgusted at the thought of me feeding her jars!
(my daughter is on stage 2 jars as she isnt keen on the watery smooth things-i find it hard to get some home cooked things at the right consistency)
Does anyone else use jars?

Just to add i do cook a lot for my daughter, but because i was on the move so much at xmas i used Hipp Organic jars. I check all the labels carefully on everything i buy.
PS my friend isnt a mother, she is a chef though. Maybe thats why shes so opinionated about food!

I can assure you that your baby will be just fine eating baby food from a jar. I really don't like it when people try and force their opinions on others, or turn their nose up because they think they are better.
As a mother of two, 3 & , I have learned that each child is different, as well as parenting styles are different. And only you, her mother, can determine what you think is best for your child. It is hard work raising a kid, and nobody is perfect.
If she likes the baby food, then let her keep eating it. She will be eating regular food soon enough. And tell your friend, if she truly is a friend, she wouldn't be worried about if you were feeding your child jar food, but if your child is healthy and happy.

I don't use jarred food because I don't believe in spoon feeding babies. However there isn't anything really wrong with the jarred foods, they don't contain sugar or salt or preservatives. They are generally kind of high in water and slightly over-cooked, but they aren't harmful.

I raised three kids on that jarred baby food (Gerber's) when I didn't have time to cook. They are perfectly healthy. Also used vegetable out of Campbell soup.

I made all of my kids food and here are my reasons
1. no sugars or preservatives so they love the taste of veggies (real veggies not sugared sweetened versions)
2. no glass or animal bi products - most manufactured foods are allowed to have some rat/mouse hair and droppings.
my kids love to eat there real veggies even today (my oldest is 4 and loves carrots and peas.)
most of my friends who fed their children store bought baby food no matter the brand have a hard time transition their children from the sweet/starchy food to real food they taste very different.
I don't think a couple of weeks will have hurt you or her although it is much cheaper and healthier to home make their food, if you fill up ice cube trays you can freeze the food making huge batches that last for long periods of time.
(of course once frozen you have to put them in freezer bags lol)
you can buy one bunch of carrots for two dollars and feed a baby for over a month on it.
edit:
for who ever thumbed down me I do my research I don't just trust some faceless company to hold to safe standards.
here is a site that tells you the baby food requirements it tells you how much lead is legally allowed in each bottle, how much fillers is allowed per ounce

Jar foods will not hurt her, but if you are concerned you can cook ahead of time and freeze it for later use

Yes i use them.. i use the plastic tubs too. It's all personal preferance. It will not hurt your baby.
See, I prefer not to feed my daughter stage 3 jar/tub foods because the meats seem disgusting to me. But they will not harm your baby.

I use them too....as the couple of times I tried to puree her foods they came flying back at me. The only two times my daughter spit her food out...lol. Now she's older and pretty much on table foods and snubbs her nose @ baby foods.
Read the ingredients, as you will see most of that food is pretty straight forward with no additives. It isn't the worst thing you can do...what about the people who feed their children nothing but drive through, hot dogs, mac & cheese and packaged foods?
