USUALLY a baby will get his/her first tooth as soon as 9-12 months, but some babies start teething as soon as 2.
Most medical professionals will doubt at first that a baby is teething sooner than 4 months, but that's just because it's very rare.
My son started teething around 2 1/2 months, is now 5 1/2 months, and it still has yet to come out. It just sits there and bothers him, some days he cries so hard because it hurts even though we've given him tylenol, some days he only gnaws on his fingers/binkie/rings/toes or whatever he can get his tiny little hands on.

My first didn't get a tooth till she was almost 9 months and my second baby got her first around 4 months and had 8 teeth before she was one. Every baby is different so don't worry.

My son started cutting his first two teeth at four months old (though they did not come out all the way till he was almost 6 months old). But my daughter didn't get her first teeth till she was 7 months old, and now she's one with two top and two bottom teeth. By now my son had a mouth full of teeth.
So each child is different, even your own.

My daughter was 3.5 months old when her first two bottom teeth popped thru the gums. She's now almost 8 months old and has 8 teeth! All babies are different! Good luck!
