Everyone will tell you - don't worry about it - babies get bumps! I say take them to the e.r. and make sure everything is ok. My son fell on the floor at around 10 months. Everyone thought I was over-reacting until the catscan came back with a fracture and he had to be admitted into the hospital. We stayed two days just to make sure he wouldn't develop a bleed and require surgery. When it comes to baby's - better safe than sorry.

What I do with my 9 month old is I'll lay down on the floor and roll around with her. She loves it!! She's constantly trying to climb all over me while I'm rolling around and she laughs her little head off. Instead of giving her toys and books and stuff, try giving yourself to her as a brand new toy. You can do way more then some toy from the store can lol Then she is kept amused and you guys get to enjoy each other even more :)

If you think she may have a concussion, take her to the ER.

Signs of concussion:

Headache
Dizziness
Ringing in the ears
Nausea or vomiting
Slurred speech

If she is sleepy or falls asleep and won't wake up, take her to the ER right away.

Otherwise, it's just a goose egg from bumping her head. If she seems fine, then give her baby tylenol and leave her alone. If she is fussy or crying, comfort her and give her baby tylenol and heat or ice pack her head for 10mins.

this is pretty normal and happens quite often. It is only soft because it got swollen and its irritated from hitting it. If you are concerned then just put a cool wash cloth on it or something cold that can take down the swelling. I'm sure it will happen much more as she starts to walk.

I would call the doctor to be on the safe side. I was always told that if they get a bump on their head they are usually fine, when they don't get a bump it could mean swelling inside the brain (I don't know how true this is) At the worst she may have a concussion.

Wrap up a bag of frozen veggies in a dish towel, that will help the swelling and pain. Hold it there for about 10 mins at a time.

When a person/child get hit on the head it creates a bump, because the blood in the head has no muscle or fat to absorb it, so it pools, as long as she is coherent she'll be fine

go to the doctor or emergency room immediately. softness could easily be a skull fracture. damage to the brain could become permanent if not treated quickly.

Watch her, but most likely it's just a "bump". There will be a lot more of those boo-boo's as she learns to walk.
