My baby girl is two weeks old. How long do I need to wait before I can take her shopping or to run errands with me? I know she has virtually no immune system, so I don't want to compromise that.

my lovely 3 month old is awaking at around 3am each night.. at this time I change his nappy and then feed him but then he stays awake for a good hour or so after this.. its exhausting us all.. he doesnt like drinking much during the day. he's bottle fed so I know he used to drink more -- possibly he's just too curious with his surroundings at the moment?? . he's a happy lil soul though so at least he's not grumpy.. what can I do to make my nights better.. I'm getting bushwacked.

Help! Trying to decide on which bottles to buy...

(Ok, and before anyone starts to lecture me on breast feeding ~ I know, and I'm not able to do so.)

I currently have Avent bottles and I hate them. They leak constantly and I'm tired of wrestling with them!

I'm interested in the Playtex Ventair bottles but not sure if they work well to mix powdered formula or if I used pre-mixed formula can put them in a bowl of hot water to warm it (not sure how that disk thing in the bottom works).

I'm also looking at the Playtex Drop-Ins system but have the same concerns with those!

I'm open to any other suggestions too!

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I've been seeing questions on here about people asking if their children's IQ would be higher since they breastfeed and if they formula feed it would be lower. If it is exactly the same, what is the point of breastfeeding? Same thing with the whole "bonding" issue. If a bottle feeding mother states she bonds just as well as a breastfeeding mother, again, what is the point in breastfeeding? I'm not asking to cause problems or have people be rude....I'm not downing either choice. A mother's choice, is exactly that...her own choice and I don't think there is anything wrong with either decision. I'm asking from a personal view point as I personally chose to breastfeed and haven't had any problems so I continue. My son is almost 5 months old and I enjoy it a lot, but I'm having a hard time seeing what the big difference is based on what I've been seeing on here. Could someone bring this subject to light for me?

My 10mo son has had a diaper rash for two months now. Certain medications prescribed by his pediatrician helped, but then it came right back. He just had a doctors visit today & she prescribed Nystatin again, which didn't work last time. Please give me your advice.

What we've done:
-Triple Paste or A&D (we were using these when he first got the rash)
-Nystatin
-Nystatin w/ some kind of steriod
-Fusion (script that has zinc oxide, miconazole nitrate & petrolatum)
-Switched diaper brand from Pampers to Huggies
-Switched baby soap from J&J to Baby Majic (hypoallergenic & dye free)
-Wiped with just water & paper towel for a while (no results, went back to sensitive wipes)
-Strep test came back negative
-Started adding just a splash of juice to his water rather than the 50/50 mixture
-He goes diaper free at least 15 minutes a day
-Using Caldesene (powder with zinc oxide in it)

We change his diaper every 1-2 hours and always let him air dry before putting a new diaper on.

My 5 month old daughter is getting dehydrated as its now getting very warm, she sweats alot and as a result her poos are firm balls, not soft and mushy like before. She doesnt like drinking plain water so I add water to the last tiny bit of milk left in her bottle. Whats another way to get bub to drink water without mixing it in formula?

ok my daughter is three months old, and she has a doc appt tomorrow. What I need to know is somthing that won't burn her tonight, her rash has gottin worse, and i am not sure if it is a allergic reaction or not. I have been using Destin and baby powder and scented wipes (use scented sense she was born), soo we stoped using the powder and that only worked for a little bit, now we are just using Destin and scented wipes. That is still buring her bottom and makng it very uncomfortable. PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!

This two moth old boy started passing small qty. of blood in stool ( about one month back ). After few days of this incident, (aparantly) pieces of intestine lining / tissue started to come out along with stool. This happens 10-15 times per day and the child is in a very delicate situation. Many doctors have been consulted over past 30 days and they are all clue less as to what this is....

Any help / guess to understand this complication will be greatly appreciated as this might save a life .

Regards

My fourteen month old has had diarrhea (4-8 times a day) for the past two months (at which time she stopped nursing and began table food). I have seen our pediatrician three times over this period to try to determine what's going on. He first said that she was "adjusting." Then he told me that she had a milk allergy, so we switched to soy everything. At the last appt., he finally did a stool sample (for parasites and roto virus), which came back negative. Now he says there's no particular reason for the diarrhea, and I shouldn't worry about it.

He says that there is no reason to do more testing. I have decided to get a second opinion, which I almost feel guilty about because he has been our pediatrician for seven years. At the same time, I have to figure out what is going on with my baby.

A friend of mine took her baby for a second opinion, and he sent her a certified letter asking her not to return to him. How would you handle the situation? Thanks for your opinions.

My friend just called me saying that her little girl, 6 month old, has a high fever (103,2). She got a flu shot today. Can the flu shot cause such a high fever or is it more likely something else? The doctor told her she might get a fever, but this seems to me be too high.
