My 5 month old daughter is getting dehydrated as its now getting very warm, she sweats alot and as a result her poos are firm balls, not soft and mushy like before. She doesnt like drinking plain water so I add water to the last tiny bit of milk left in her bottle. Whats another way to get bub to drink water without mixing it in formula?

Try giving her 1st thing in the morning, before her 1st feeding. She might take it easier then. That works for my daughter when she was about 4 months old and very constipated and the water worked great for it.
Or you could add a splash of juice (100% juice, no added sugar) to a sippy cup...prune juice will work great for consipation.

Make sure you boil the water beforehand to kill any nasties. There is no need to add sweeteners or flavourings as these can lead to tooth decay as your bub gets older. My son is now 13 months old and prefers water to fruit juice - I couldn't be happier.

before giving water to an infant ALWAYS check with your doctor. there may be something else going on here. you shouldn't have to give your daughter any water, so just make sure to see your doctor. water isn't nutritious for a baby, there should be enough water in the guilds she's getting without you having to add more. again, see your doctor first before you try something like that.

The only way i could get my bub to drink water was to warm it up. She didnt like it cold as she was only used to warm milk. Gradually i have been not warming it as much, so she is used to room temp water now.

What I would do is add a tad bit of apple juice or prune juice in it. That way it will give it a little bit of flavor and at the same time it will soften the poo.

hi, I purely used faucet water, and all of my little ones are superb...and somewhat bright. infant water is purified water with extra flouride. In some areas, the place the water is unfourinated, or merely yucky...you will comprehend in case you reside in a sort of places. human beings opt to purchase bottled water...and bottled infant water. regardless of the shown fact that, the ingesting water/faucet water isn't volatile on your newborn. it rather is merely a depend of non-public preferance. besides, you will desire to think of: Bottled water has purely been around for 15 years or so. And, you, your self, probable drank water without postpone out of the faucet. reliable success!

It's my understanding that babies are to only have breastmilk or formula the first year and that they should get all of the hydration they need from that. If my daughter started sweating and/or started having unusual bowel or urine passing, I would phone the pediatrician.

Try her on some very very dilute fruit juice (apple or pear, not citrus to start with). It doesn't have to be expensive baby juice, natural juice is just fine.
