I have a 4 month old and the only way he will sleep is if he is sitting up, like in his car seat or in the corner of the lazy boy. When we lay him down in his crib or bassinet he cries constantly like he is in pain, but then we sit him up and he falls asleep with no fussing. Has anyone else experienced this and have any suggestions on how to get him to sleep laying down? We don't want this to become a habit for him.

My son is 3 months on the 21st, and he seems like he gets sleepy a lot then grumpy if he doesn't sleep. Should I put him in his crib to nap, or will that confuse him when it's time to sleep at night? Because he sleeps about 4-5 hrs at night and I don't want to mess that up! Also I would think that sleeping in my arms or on a couch with all the noise of the day going on can't be very good, or restful! Thanks!

I am pregnant and am a little concerned about when I bring our newborn baby home from hospital as we have 2 x cats. They are mainly outdoor cats so there is not a problem with litter as I donot have a litter tray in the house but I am concerned about cathairs and sterilising everything etc. Just how careful do I have to be? Obviously it goes without saying that I would not leave the cats in the same room as the baby for fear of smothering but I wondered on the cleanliness side of things how worried should I be?

Our daughter is one week old, my wife's milk has come in, and she has to go back to work in three months. We'd like to have a little extra milk so I can give my wife a break at night. Also, my wife has to travel for work in July and we'd like to have enough stored for her absence. When should we start?

My baby eats about every hour during the day for a short period of time and I think she may be just thirsty and not hungry. Can I offer her a bottle of water yet? She is 3 weeks old.

I know babies should not have cow's milk until a year old, but according to the feeding chart that my doctor gave us they should start eating dairy such as soft pasturized cheese, yogurt and cottage cheese at 8 -10 mo. If these items contain cow's milk, how are they ok? And if you get soy products, then they aren't really considered dairy are they? Any recommendation are welcome. Should we start these foods? If so what kinds are best? (We are doing all organic at least for the first year.)

My baby has stopped eating solids. I found out that his other grandmother has been putting his babyfood in a bottle and now he wants nothing but his bottle. It takes me an hour to feed him anything on a spoon while I work through his temper. Why is this happening?

My 5 month old son seems to like looking at things upside down. If he's laying across my lap on his back, he hangs his head as far over my legs as he can until he's upside down. He does the same thing while lying on the floor...he turns around so he's looking at me upside down. Is there a reason for this or is he just being a silly kid?

The bleeding had begun to subside after 4 weeks, but for the past 3 it varies from dark brown to bright red. The amount varies as well, but it's never enough to indicate hemmorage. I am breastfeeding and it seems to make it worse everytime I feed the baby. What can I do to get it to stop? Should I see my Dr. again? I saw him for my 6 week check-up and he said I had nothing to worry about, it could be my period, (which now I doubt seeing as I'm still bleeding 10 days later), or that I'm doing too much strenuous activity. I just want it to end!!!

My son has been obsessed for several months with remotes, phones, basically anything shiny/electronic. It is to the point where he is more interested in these objects than people. Anyone have this experience?

Last month we had it down to 2 feedings per day -- and she could have skipped one of those. Now she seems to want to nurse several times in the day, and several times at night -- and it doesn't seem to be hunger or thirst, she doesn't want food or drink, she just seems to need the sucking. (Doesn't suck a finger or take a pacifier) She gets all wistful when she sees my breasts, which she never did before. Could she be not getting enough of some nutrient in the solid food I feed her? Is it normal for demand to increase with growth periods or something like that? Maybe she is feeling more insecure lately? I just wonder what you think the most likely explanation is, and if this is common. Thanks

Has anyone had this happen? My daughter sits up in the crip and as she falls asleep she doesn't fall back, she lays forward, sort of like when you stretch you legs. I keep wanting to correct it, but everytime I do she wakes up. Has that happened to you and how long did you wait before going in to put the baby in the right position?

My daughter has been getting red patches in the folds of her skin: behind the knees, in the elbows, and on the neck. Sometimes its dry and other times its sweety. I have been told by several people that this is from a lack of sun. Have you heard of this? Dealt with it? and if so, What should I do to get rid of it?

First- let me start by saying that he has NEVER cried at bedtime. We have a great routine & he usually gets into his crib, gets his "lovey" (bear), pacifier, and then closes his eyes & falls right to sleep at 9:00 every night. The past week, we put him to bed at 8:00 and he did great. (Eats dinner at 7:30, then bed & bath then wakes up at 5 am to nurse).
Anyways- 3 days ago I gave him pears & the same day we had company come in. That night he went to bed (normal time) and woke at midnight, 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 to nurse (not eating much AT ALL, but just comfort nursing). He also would not nap all day- this has been going on for 3 days. Last night, he cried off & on for 1 hour in his crib when we put him down to bed. He's never done this. He wouldn't even nurse when I offered it & I gave him tylenol as well. We had to get him out of his crib & let him play for another hour, then re-do the nighttime routine. What is going on? I thought maybe it was the pears? Please help!
