He has had diarrhea and some vomiting since the switch to whole milk. He doesn't get hives, just bad diarrhea. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Anything is possible. My son had the same problem but it ended up not being an allergy at all but rather GERD- gastroesophogeal reflux disease. You may want to have that checked out. My child drank regular milk based formula for his first year then when switched to whole milk started vomiting and having diarrhea daily. This went on for six months until we got a diagnosis. We first tried switching him to Lactaid and removing cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products. If that works, then it is probably a milk allergy, if not, then it is something deeper. Good luck,

It's very possible. The milk in formula is processed and changed so it's different than whole milk. You son needs the calcium and vitamin D that milk offers so talk to your pediatrician about what he can switch to, probably a soy milk will work.

Go back to the formula and see if that helps. It could be a lot of things. Realistically there is no reason to stop formula before two years -or longer. It is far more nutritious and easier to digest than milk.

My boyfriends daughter had the same thing, and it turned out that he tummy was having a tough time digesting the regular milk, so the pediatrician put her on the soy formula and all was well. You might want to consult your doctor first just in case but the soy might help.

My son allergic to dairy and soy, this sounds alot like a dairy allergy, see your doctor to find out for sure,it is Sunday so if you wait till tomorrow I would get a dairy/soy free formula for the time being,Similac Alimentum and Enfimil Nutramigen are 2 dairy free formulas.Alimentum makes the ready to use,it would probably be good to just get a bit of it until you see your doctor instead of buying a tin of powder which if you live in Canada they do not sell Alimentum in powder form.Good luck to you.
