My eight month old son just ate some dry cat food, and now I think I see a whisker growing! Is this bad? Is he going to become a cat?!

Hi everyone! My husband and I have a company dinner to go to tomorrow night and my mother is supposed to watch my 8 week old little boy. Two of the dogs are hyper and NOT well trained. I asked her to try to keep them away from the little guy this time, as I will not be there. Personally I (my husband is too) am just a little uncomfortable with it. But my mom got angry and took offense, not only that she acted like I was trying to make her choose! (my husbands parents both have TINY dogs and they even kept dog and baby apart) Should my husband and I stand firm on our decision?

My infant is temporarily on Similac Advance Soy formula while I take a medication. I noticed that by her neck and ears she smells fishy. Could this be from the soy? Or from something in the formula? I saw something online about DHA having a fishy smell. Anyone else have this problem? I never noticed the odor while breastfeeding her. I wash her everyday, but the odor remains. I also had her checked for an ear infection and she doesn't have one. Any ideas?

My daughter is now 13 months old, we have had an alarm for all the children. When she was tiny, it used to go off quite a bit, she would move off the sensor pad or hold her breath. I took her to the Doc and he said she's fine - no health problems.
As she's gotten older, I have switched the alarm on by habit really. It hasn't gone off since......I cant' remember, it's so long.
In the early hours of this morning, the alarm sounded on two occasions. I ran to my baby and put my hand on her chest to check, and both times, she just calmly took a breath in and was fine after that.
I am 'On Pins' now. Why did that happen? Will she do it again?
I thought that as her body matured, it wouldn't happen unless there was something wrong.
Can anybody help with an explanation?

I just want to get some opinions. What do you think is the right age for all of these things...... putting away the swing, taking away the pacifier, using a walker, using a bouncy chair, putting away the basinette, etc. Anything else you can think of too would bee appreciated. Thanks

It's not really a question.
But for anyone who had a c-section (or anyone curious) I found this video on youtube of a live c-section. I can't believe this is what they did to me : ) So for all the mommys and mommys to be (or daddys and daddys to be), I just wanted to share what I found. I thought it was very interesting.

My son only takes 2-45mins-1 hour naps a day. He does not like to go to sleep at night. I bounce him on an exercise ball and he will usually fall asleep, but will be back up within 2-3 hours and we do this all night. I would let him cry in the middle of the night if it was just a whinny cry, but the sound he makes will make your skin crawl. My husband and I are very tired and are debating on whether we want anymore children after this one. He is our first. Please give me some ideas to help him fall asleep and stay asleep, Even 5-6 hours in a row would be great.

My daughter is 4 months right now. When I put her down she is good for a few minutes, playing with a toy. She'll then start crying I pick her up and she stops. My question is when do I start letting her cry it out so I don't spoil her and how? *Note: This is not a sleep issue! I get her to sleep fine. Its just this constant need to be held and rock all day. I want to know when is best to stop that so she is not like that (spoiled as they call it) at a older age.

My 11 month old was sleeping through the night for about a month - last month, but now started waking up at 4:30 and screaming. We have tried to let him cry it out - he just cries til we get him. We have tried to rock him back to sleep, but he wakes up the minute you try to put him in the crib. I have tried to nurse him to sleep (still nursing), but he is wide awake and just plays with my shirt. I don't know what to do. I thought he was teething so have been giving teething tabs before bed and during those early morning wake ups, but he just doesn't seem to want to sleep. His naps have been awful lately also and I am so tired from all of it!! Any advice?

My 8 week old has been sleeping through the night for two weeks. She is usually alert most of the day, taking cat naps here and there. She is still sleeping through the night, but for the past three days, she sleeps all day, too. She was fussy the first day, but now, she just wants to sleep. She has no fever, and a very minor cough. I called the doc, and they said just to keep an eye on her, but shes my first, I am just scared I am missing something! My husband has a bad cold, and I am starting to get it, could she just be fighting off the cold? Should I call the doctor back? (Its been 2 days since I talked to them) Thanks for your help!

I am 38 weeks today with my first baby! And I was wondering about losing my mucus plug. I havent yet i dont think, i have had heavier discharge but i read that the plug would be tinged in red or brown blood, is that true in all cases can you lose it with out knowing or is it so big that you would have no doubt? also i was wondering about my babies movement is it true that the baby stops moving when you are about to go into labor and while you are in labor or will i still feel her squirming around??

Thanks for your answers!!

My 5 week old baby has had thrush for 4 weeks now.. I have just completed the second 2 wk Nystatin prescription, but he still has it.. I only bottle feed and I sterilize everything religiously.. The doctor is sending him in for labwork, because she is concerned that he may have a problem with his immune system. Apparently, it is uncommon for Nystatin to not cure thrush, especially after two attempts.. Anyone have a similar experience with Nystatin?
