I am not sure why your doc is worried. My son pretty much had thrush none stop until he got teeth. The second time I took him in for it, my doctor told me that I was worrying too much and that thrush is typically around until teeth come. Though I was breastfeeding, not sure if that makes a difference.

It can be difficult to treat. Nystatin usually does the trick but sometimes fails. Make sure you are swabbing it on the thrush itself. The medicine does not do any good once swallowed. It works on contact. There is a stronger antifungal but not a first line medicine. It is not commonly used b/c of side effects I think. The good thing about thrush is it will eventually go away on it's own but can take months. Some docs use Gentian violet. It is otc. It will turn baby's lips purple, but that only lasts a few days.

My son had thrush and was perscribed Nystatin as well. It started clearing up after only a few days and was gone in a few weeks. Some doctors also use genatian violet to treat thrush as well. Its a dark bluish purple and is painted inside the mouth. Its a pain but i've heard it works really well.

Try grapefruit seed extract it is safe and treats thrush.
The other thing is to be sure to add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of vinegar to your rinse cycle of laundry. Yeast can live on clothes and bleach will not kill it in a standard dilution. Your clothes won't smell of vinegar I promise. Vinegar is actually a really good fabric softener.

Not personal experience, but yes I have heard that Nystatin does the trick...but sterilization may not be enough....at this point i would recommend you throw away the bottles and start fresh...many women who pump, and bottle feed....are told to throw away the plastic parts of the pump (the parts that come off to be cleaned) and buy a new set.... Yeast thrives on sugar....what formula is he getting?

I cant remember what we used but my daughter did have thrush. I thought we would never get rid of it!! They tested her immune system and she was just fine. They told me it was hard to get rid of sometimes.

Yes, although I was bf-ing. We would need both the oral and the diaper cream. The oral usually took care of it.
