my baby is only 12 days old and I've mostly breast fed him so far- but I've also given him a few bottles, on nights when latching takes a long time... today and yesterday he has breast fed for literally hours!! I know he's getting enough food because of all of his diapers, but is this normal? have I screwed something up with the occational bottle?

My cousin is having her first baby, she is due in 2 days. She has smoked during all of her pregnancy. She washed the baby's clothing that she is taking to the hospital...then she leaves them in area that is being smoked around. Im afraid that when the baby is born the cigarett smoke will be very strong and harmfull. She has everything else for the baby in a smoke free home, but she has been staying at her mothers house, full of smokers!! and thats where her hospital bags are...for when it's time. Should I say something, is the "SMELL" of cigarett smoke harmfull to a newborn?
FYI: she doesn't plan on smoking around the baby!
Also, I went and bought some onsies, gowns, and socks for the baby...washed them in dreft.."I don't smoke"...and I plan to bring them to the hospital when she is in labor..and then I planed on offering to take the smelly baby things and wash them, then bring right back. IS THis a good plan...or should I say somthing now? OR is this just not a big deal?

We are great friends and she is having a really hard time. Even though I have three children I have never experienced this. I want to know how she is feeling, has anyone been through this? How did you feel, what would you have liked friends to do to help you? Any help would be really appreciated.

Our three week old is feeding nonstop the last 36 hours and waking at night every 2 hours. We presume she is in a growth spurt. How long can we expect this to last?

How many women out there have severe backpain and received an epidural. It has been 10 month's since i had my son and my back hurts big time. The procedure was done twice because the first time he said I moved but the stupid nurse pulled me forward. I just want to know do any of you out there have pain like mine. Or could he have possibly injured my back on his first attempt. I can't even bend down the little time it takes to change a diaper without it hurting. Also any pain releiving tips ? They also used a plunger to retreive my son a episiotomy and 31 stitches. It was a rough labor and the dr recommended I no longer have children Any suggestions in releiving my back pain would be appreciated.

I myself is adopted so i know how wonderful is. Basicly is there any birth mother how can not affort to take care of her child and would like to put it in a loving home?

ok i have a 3 week old baby. Im breastfeeding. and im going back to work the first week of april and im concerned about comforting her when im not there. I tried a pacifier tonight and she took it for only comfort. i read on the internet that it is basically a bad thing to give a breastfed baby a pacifier. :( but if she wants me at daycare and i cant be there i dont want her crying for hours, i want something to comfort her you know. so i guess what im asking is if its ok to give a breastfed baby a pacifier and if she'll get nipple confusion and not want to breastfeed anymore.

When my baby was about a week old, some relatives came over at 8:00 p.m. and stayed and stayed and stayed until 11:00 at night. I started mentioning being tired at 9:00. (These relatives live close by and have children of their own. Am I normal to be annoyed at this, or is it my hormones?

I have been breastfeeding my daughter for the past seven months, recently I have been considering supplementing with formula. I have never made a bottle of formula. (My first child). At the risk of sounding like an idiot, what is the best way to prepare a bottle of formula? How do you heat it up with out heating it too much? How do you know if it is heated too much? What if you're out in public, shopping or something... how do you heat it up?

I have a 2 week old baby and I'm breastfeeding and loving it but my husband hates it. He says it's to time consuming and not always convienient. He wants us to bottle feed and I really don't want to. We have other children but didn't really breast feed them (as he again didn't want to) This is our last baby and we've finally got a little girl.
I really lovely the time breastfeeding gives us and she seems to really love it to.
Any advice would be great.
