My son is eight months and I let him watch Baby Einstein about 30 minutes every few days. Sometimes I just need a break. As long as you are playing with your child a lot and exposing him to new things a little TV now and then is not going to hurt. Baby Einstein is wonderful. Sit with your baby and point out what he is watching and the colors.

I would say no - kids generally do not benefit from TV, educational or otherwise. Once they are a little older, I think interactive TV shows (oxymoron?? LOL!!) like one that involves them dancing along can be ok in small doses, but if you can wait, wait. :)

I will be the first "yes" answer. Educational shows BUT you need to minimize the time to a half an hour to an hour.

The lights and words will stimulate their brains and come on, most kids listen to everybody but their parents even at young ages. And who wouldn't listen to a red monster that sounded like a little kid (Elmo).

Baby Einstein is truly awesome for kids though. Yes it'd be nice to be able to teach our kids all that fun stuff all day long but somebody has to do the chores and there is nothing wrong with popping that it and having them watch it while you do the dishes.

I think if it's something like Barney or Sesame street. My 4 month old loves both of these. I only put it on once or twice a day, but she will just sit there and stare at it. You can see them thinking to themselves, I think they are beneficial

Not at all. TV destroys the attention span of children under 3. It actually puts kids in altered brain states.

For a 6 month old, 15 minutes of every waking hour, you should be playing with your child, following his lead. In addition, you want to be reading to your child, teaching your child words by naming everything. Children learn in the context of a relationship with mommy. Babies only form connections between brain cells when they are held!

There's no time for tv in the life of a healthy baby.

Have confidence - you don't need to plug your baby in to get time - your child will play happily if you don't destroy her imagination with tv.

computers and TV are not the best for young children. they would benefit more from playing with different textures and noisy toys or board books and you reading to them.
