How many women out there have severe backpain and received an epidural. It has been 10 month's since i had my son and my back hurts big time. The procedure was done twice because the first time he said I moved but the stupid nurse pulled me forward. I just want to know do any of you out there have pain like mine. Or could he have possibly injured my back on his first attempt. I can't even bend down the little time it takes to change a diaper without it hurting. Also any pain releiving tips ? They also used a plunger to retreive my son a episiotomy and 31 stitches. It was a rough labor and the dr recommended I no longer have children Any suggestions in releiving my back pain would be appreciated.

I never had problem's before. I was a truck unloader before I got pregnant and I would know and feel if my back had problems.

Sounds like sciatica. Not related to an epidural. (I had 2.)
Check it out:

I know this sounds stupid, but when I quit "hopping" or stepping over baby gates....the pain went away in just a couple of weeks.

I didn't have an epidural but that sounds like a really long time to be in that much pain !!You should go to a different doctor. If that first doctor made a mistake he's NOT going to tell you.An epidural goes right into your spine, and that's nothing to take lightly. You should be able to enjoy your new baby sometime before he's potty-trained!!! Some people I know that had epidurals said they were told to be very still so if you moved even if it was the stupid nurse's fault that has to be significant !! There may just besome bruising or something inside that you can't see. But either way you should have a second opinion, to make sure. You also may have pulled a muscle during your difficult labor.Good Luck!!!

No I had an epidural in December 2005 and have experienced no problems from it. Actually I had experienced back pain before I was pregnant but not since then. Most likely your back pain is unrelated to your birth experience it actually sounds like nerve damage or sciatica. As for your birth experience I was in labor for 17 hours had forceps, not a plunger but a vacuum, an episiotomy with stitches and a 3rd degree tear and i'm having my second child in October. Just b/c you had a rough labor is no reason for your doctor to say you shouldn't have children again. There should be a more serious medical reason to back up that reasoning. Maybe you should seek a 2nd opinion of a qualified doctor. Good luck.

I had what they called a "spinal" which is a little stronger than an epidural because I had an emergency C-section. I never had any back pain. But I have heard about women getting back pain from epidurals because they moved when the needle was being put in. It happened to my aunt-she went to her doctor and they fixed it somehow (I dont know how though-I never asked). I would go see your doctor. They can help you and give you tips on how to relieve the pain.

I would probably take this to the doc. There could be a pinched nerve or something else going on. I had an epidural and a spinal and I remember being sore for about a month, but not 10 months later. That just doesn't sound right.

3 births, 3 epidurals, no back pain. I expect it's more the stress on your body from pregnancy and maybe delivery than the epidural. I would suggest consulting a physical therapists for exercises you can do to help. My husband and another friend both do this.

Long term back pain with epidural is extremely rare, but possible. I hope you have told your doctor about this. If not do so pronto. I'm sure the labor has nothing to do with your pain today.

Unfortunately, there are no magical solutions to back pain. Go to your doc.

omg I had a big problem with the area of the epidural I had with my son I think I had it for a little of a year and then finally it just stopped. Good luck and try cold or warm compress and if you start doing yoga and plates it will help make your back stronger.
