Are you asking in refernce to a baby/toddler? It starts at diferent times but usually it gets better at 3 years old. That is if everything is stable at home and in th elife of a 3 year old.

With my son it was around 8-9 months. Suddenly he screamed when we dropped him off at daycare, if we had the very occasional babysitter, etc. I know that he stopped crying about 2 minutes after I left the school, and the longer you stay and keep going back the worse it gets. Eventually they'll learn that you're going to come back.

Parental or child anxiety?

My little boy loves everyone, he could care less whether Daddy or I are around as long as SOMEONE is making a fuss over him. Daddy and I on the other hand have repeatedly made arrangements to have people watch him so we can (finally) go out together, and we keep cancelling at the last minute, or waiting until they're here and backing out of our plans to stay with him anyway!

If this is about a child let me tell you a secret. My mother had a in-home day care center. Everytime this one child would come there in the morning, she would cry so much and loudly I might add. When her mother or father left, she stopped. She just wanted to make her mother or father feel bad about leaving her there. Some kids just do not want to be without the parents and will continue to cry and carry on. They will make you feel guilty and sad about leaving them, but you are the parent and have to work so you just have to cope.
