My 2 week old girl is very fussy and gassy on milk-based formula. (Nestle Good Start Supreme), and my pediatrician suggested that she might be better on a soy-based formula. I was wondering how could i go about changing her formula to the soy-based? (Also Nestle Good Start brand)

My 4 month old son is constipated. He currently is on solids. His ped said not to give him juice yet since she believes its carbs he doesnt need yet, but I think the solids are stopping him up. He drinks about 2 ozs of water a day. Formula he has 8ozs every 4 hours for 4 feedings. Any advice?

My daughter weighed 9lbs 3ozs at birth and was 19 inches long. She has always drank a full 8oz bottle. The fist 3 months she drank between 7-8 full 8oz bottles a day, now she drinks around 5 8oz bottles a day. She eats nothing else besides formula.

i was looking into the all in one with pockets that you jsut wash and put on the baby again. but i was also looking into gerber plastic covers and prefolds. i dont think i would like them as much but i was looking for somthing a little less expencive, the good brand of cloth diapers (the all in one easy to use things) are soooo expencive, even off of ebay. i dont think it would help in the long run. we only pay $20 for a pack of disposible paper diapers (luvs) adn we get 120 in the box. one cloth diaper can cost as much as 1 box of diapers. has anyone used the gerber covers adn the prefolds? waht do you suggest i do?i have always wanted to give cloth diaper a try, im all about saving money. what do you think?

My 3 month old eats no less than 50 oz of formula per day, sometimes a couple of ounces more. Should I anticipate my doctor recommending cereal at his 4 month well baby check up? At our last appointment he told me NOT to start cereal before 6 months, but said we'd review at our next appointment.
The reason I'm most curious is that my son is showing many signs that he is ready - watches people while they eat, mimics chewing, drools, chews on tongue, and I don't know if that should be encouraged or just left alone.
He is sleeping 7 hours a night before waking up for a night feed, is gaining weight steadily(born at 9lb2oz, now around 15lbs), and is content, so there really is no issue except for the excessive formula consumption.
Any ideas? I'm really excited to get him started on solids, but don't want to take that step until he is absolutely ready. Obviously, I'll go by what my doctor says, but I'm curious to hear what others in the same situation have been told.

My daughter just turned 9 months today. She seems less interested in formula every day. How much does she need to consume?? She eats cereal for breakfast, applesauce for lunch, and two jars of baby food for dinner. Help!

I am throwing a baby shower at the church tonight and I got diapers, wipes, and Balmex for the new baby (I prefer to give practical gifts)...but I'm already running behind with no time to wrap. I am currently in an office setting. How can I present this gift without it looking tacky?

My daughter is 4 months old and she's been having a bad cough for the past week which seems to be getting worse. I've been using a vaporizer in her room that doesn't seem to be working. We just found out yesterday that my nephew, who lives with us, has pneumonia and now i'm wondering if that is what she is catching. She has a doctor's appointment tomorrow but in the meanwhile I would like to know whether or not she can catch it.

I received a Jenny Lind Baby cradle as a shower present and i'm unsure if I need to purchase a matress or do I just use the pad included. This is my first child and i'm so lost it doesn't make any sense. To make matters worse the person I got the cradle from doesn't even know the answer herself.

Im 37 weeks and have to have a c section on the 20th. My ENTIRE pregnancy my inlaws have been horrible...sending me nasty emails picking fights telling me My wedding was (white trash because we had alcohol there) And being mad at me because when we (being my hubby and me) have the baby i told them NO one else was to be in the room but him(this pissed off the MIL and she cried because i wont let her see the birth of her grandchild) Also that we wanted like 2-3 hours before we have visitors so that my hubbby and I can have some time with our bran new baby!
Ettiquette wise....is that rude to say you dont want visitors for that long? They told me it is and that im cutting family out of an important time...but i feel very strongly about having those hours to bond as a family(its our first)

Also, they have been on no speaking terms with me since November of '06 other than the nasty emails and voicemails ect and only talk to my hubby and only invited him to family dinners and such.

I am due back to work may 1. I have started my preliminary search for a babysitter...the people i called, i basically asked if they accomodate shift work...where they live and how much...I know these aren't the most important question...but these have helped me narrow my possibilities down to 2. I am getting ready to call these 2 women back...what questions are important to know when choosing a babysitter?? And, is it acceptable to ask to come to their place to meet them next week...to see how the baby reacts and make sure their home is well kept?? Any help with things to ask would be greatly appreciated...as this is my first child and the light of my life and want to make sure this is the right place for her to be spending her time while I am back at work.

What do you think about shaving a baby's head? My baby's dad originates from Bangladesh where it is customary to do this. He seems to think that it will make baby's hair grow back thicker, i'm skeptical! Anyway baby had his head shaved at 4 months old, it was fine and he didn't get a rash or any cuts. Now he wants to do it again, he's 6 months old now. What do you think, does it make it thicker or not?
