I need some good advice please! My baby girl is due in February, and I have been working part-time during the pregnancy. Originally I was planning on going back to work full-time around six months after the baby is born but I'm now not so sure...friends have told me different things, should I give up work completely??? People who are/have been in a similar situation what are your plans/did you do???

I'm 18 and I AM I dad, this is just an old name.

ANYWAY, my daughter is 5 months old and me and my girlfriend live in a spacious apartment in new york. I love my girlfriend Abby so much but I've been worried about her...

Ever since our daughter was born, she never recovered. She is constantly tired and is in bed all day, which means I'm up with the baby so its easier on her. Unfortunately doctors said the best thing is that our daughter stays away from her until she gets better. Now I am depriving her of her own daughter and it feels terrible.

My daughter doesn't sleep well either, so she sleeps on my chest on the couch as i give my girlfriend the entire bed.

I'm a nervous wreck worrying about her...
What should I do?

She had a 102.2 fever for two days but has a normal temp. today. I took her to the doctor who said it may be a virus. She has no other symptoms. The doctor asked me if she had a strong smell to her urine. I wasn't sure what was normal. Her urine was a little darker than normal...anyone have a child who had a UTI and can tell me more about possible signs or symptoms?

i've read lots of places that you can't spoil a new born. i beg to differ! my son is just barely 3 months old. hes ok in the morning, but once afternoon hits, he wants to be held. and the minute you put him down, the screaming starts...pick him up...he stops! this has been going on for a month now. i feel bad cause he can't even sit up on his own yet...and i'm sure hes bored, but i can't get a THING done and i stay home all day! i hate to hear him cry, but i have to do something. any suggestions?

i just deliverd november 12. I went today for a postpartum visit and it has only been three weeks. it seemed kind of early to me. anyway they asked me a bunch of question about my delivery, if i had the blues ect. they checked my breasts and my belly to see if uterus went down and it was all good. but i had two stitches and they did not check me down there. they asked if i was still bleeding and i am on and off very slightly and i told them i was still a little sore and she said i could have sex whenever i feel comfortable but usually to wait six weeks. were they supposed to check me down there because i am not going back now for three months when i get my next birth control shot.

What was the situation where you decided to use Formula instead of breastfeeding?

Did you try unsuccessfully to breastfeed beforehand? Or, had you decided against breastfeeding before the baby was born?

What were the factors leading you in the direction of using Formula rather than breastfeeding?

Was mother HIV, double mastectomy, poor health, anxiety, low milk, etc. a factor? Or perhaps baby premature, cleft lip, adopted, etc.

Finally, are you aware of Midwives and the help they can give you before, during, and after birth, or such worldwide groups as www.lllc.ca www.lalecheleague.org www.laleche.org.uk for those who want to give or receive breastfeeding support.

Please, no angry, defensive, or generally negative answers, I’m not interested in such responses (let’s all be friends, OK?). Just the facts as you see them, thank you.

I'm due in May and I have SO many questions. This is number two, but baby number one is four now and well, I've forgotten alot about the infant months! When can you introduce juice to a baby (about how many months)? What about solid foods (Bottled baby food and rice)? I remember my son had some trouble with getting full with my breast milk and I started to mix a little rice with breast milk in a bottle- But I don't remember at what point I did this. Also, when do babies typically start to sleep pretty well at night (at least a good 5 hours straight) I'll be returning to work after two months and I wonder if I'll be able to function at my job! lol Also, I'm planning on breast feeding- Did anyone pump while at work and store the bottles in the fridge nurse while at home with baby but use the stored bottles for while baby was at daycare? I'm curious as to how this will work. Once I started back to work after my first, I couldn't pump and my milk stopped.

Does anybody know anything about income guidelines in Kansas for SRS to provide childcare assistance? According to their guidelines we would be making too much by about 200 a month, but we would be needing daycare for an infant and 3 year old. I know it says "case by case" but how true is that? It just seems to me that there's a big difference in a family of 4 with 2 school age children than one with much younger kids whose daycare is so much more. I just was wanting to know what to expect from anybody who's "been there and done that." Please be nice! Thank you!

My baby was born early and when they were doing the exam, the found that instead of having the normal two lines crossing his palm, he only had one. They did a chromosome test and it came back fine, but I was wondering if anyone else had a baby that had this and if the children had problems developmentally as they got older.

My 3 month old daughter has been having these bouts of unprovoked crying lately. It happened once about a week or so ago and last night and then again this afternoon. Here's how it goes:

She is tired (but not exhausted tired) so we go through our routine before bed (or nap) and then I lay her in her crib as usual. Normally she goes to sleep with out a single fuss...but these few time she has gone into these fits of SCREAMING like I'm killing her! She will stop instantly if picked up and held. If I go in there and put her bink in her mouth she'll just keep screaming, doesn't even want it. I'll make sure every basic need is met, fed, dry, gas drops...everything. I don't know why she is doing this. Last night I finally let her cry herself to sleep after almost 4 HOURS of her crying, me trying to soothe her, then she cried 30 min solid when I let her cry herself to sleep.
What am I supposed to do? Should I just leave her crying?? What is causing this?

At my baby's last checkup, the doctor checked the top of her butt for what she called a "dimple". She said that the baby didn't have one, and said "that's good". I asked why she was checking for it, and she just said that it can be indicative of other things. Does anyone know what these "other things" are? Can it be something serious? Please, only serious answers! Thanks!
