It is really a matter of personal preference and what works best for your baby, but I used A & D Ointment most often with my own kids. I have been a daycare provider in my home for 20 years and have had babies that used Desitin and Balmex and they both worked well, too.

A&D ointment simply becuase so many babies tend to have a reaction to desitin and balmex, I had one of 3 that I could use desitin on.

Zinc oxide is another good one to use.

I was always a believer in Desitin until I was introduced to something called Dr. Smiths diaper rash cream. It comes in a small round cup (kinda) not a tube. I know you can find it at Walmart. My kid a bad rash, I put it on and the next day it was gone. Completly! GONE! Good luck!

I have always used desitin and it cleared up within a day or two. The others seemed to take longer for the rash to clear.

i haven't used a&d, balmex sucks. i know a lot of mothers who love beaudreaux's (sp?), but it wasn't really effective for my kids. the best one that i've used is the original desitin, it has enough zinc oxide in it to actually do something.

different babies have different reactions.... I could only use desitin.. because the others dried him out or made the rash worse... you are just going to have to use them an see which one works the best

I personally prefer Balmex, it works great and doesn't have any noticable scent. I have tried Boudreaux's Butt Paste too, and it works well, but is this brownish color and looks like she's had a bowel movement when she hasn't, so can be deceiving LOL

Zinc oxide creams work well, Destin also. Just check that whatever you use doesn't have Caster oil, as it doesn't help when the rash is already there, but it prevents it well.

Good Luck

Depends on the kind of rash.

Simple irritation: anything with zinc

Yeast rash: breastmilk IF you catch it right when it starts, otherwise you need yeast infection/jock-itch cream

Etc.
