She had a 102.2 fever for two days but has a normal temp. today. I took her to the doctor who said it may be a virus. She has no other symptoms. The doctor asked me if she had a strong smell to her urine. I wasn't sure what was normal. Her urine was a little darker than normal...anyone have a child who had a UTI and can tell me more about possible signs or symptoms?

In some cases, a baby may show other symptoms (with or without a fever), including:
• Some indication, such as crying, that urinating is painful

• Odd-smelling urine

• Cloudy or bloody urine

• Unexplained, persistent irritability

• Vomiting and refusing to eat

I found this on babycenter.com
I use this site alot and has preoved to be very helpful to me in the past. Good luck on your baby.

It just depends. Some infants and children with UTIs have high fevers, irritability, and won't eat properly. Others have low-grade fevers, nausea, and vomiting.

Odd smelling urine is a very common symptom and so also dark colored urine. The dark colored urine is a sign that she isn't getting enough liquids which is what causes a UTI.

If you took her to the doctor they should he have been able to diagnose her as either having one or not. I think you should take her back or to another doctor and get a second opinion.

Darker urine usually indicates dehydration. Give her plenty of liquids and check the color again. Also, cranberry juice is excellent for UTIs and kidney infections.

while my daughter became into 18 months, she had a UTI. She had to have a catheter first to ascertain her urine, and it got here lower back effective. She became into on antibiotics, and became into greater efficient in some week. some month after she felt greater efficient, she had to flow have tests executed. She mandatory to have an ultrasound and then the dye attempt. For that, they injected dye into her gadget with a catheter and watched it shuttle with the aid of her gadget. She has to lie there for roughly an hour to observe it. The ultrasound became into fairly basic- she became into uncomfortable and had to be held down. The dye attempt became into awful. She became into fairly uncomfortable and cried the full time. My husband and yet another technician had to hold her down. interior the tip, each thing got here lower back purely effective, and he or she hasn't had one considering (that became into over a twelve months in the past!) In hindsight, i think of i could have waited on the tests. She basically had the single UTI, and the surgeon needed tests. i think of i could have waited till she have been given yet another one. It became right into a lot to place her with the aid of!!

it's possible that she may have one. My 3 month old had one. She had a fever of 103.1 and I couldn't get it to go down. She was very fussy and She didn't eat alot. you could try walking with her or rocking her while holding her up on your shoulder. That worked for mine to make her fell better till I got her to dr. and got her some medication.

Have them give her a urinialisys. That's how I get my UTIs diagnosed for sure.

It's not like she can tell you it hurts to pee and being in diapers and all you can't tell how cloudy it may be unless you catch her going and put it in a cup.

it hurts when they pee, she may not want to go cause it hurts. it will smell, be dark in color, and her tummy hurts. if you think she has one, get another appointment pronto. she will take medicine and be better, don't worry, but get her checked again..
