Names I would like less of:

Madison (don't see the appeal)
Emily (these tend to be snobby, or ugly, or both)
Michael (way too common)
Derek (name for a loser)
Anything spelled wrong (Ashlee, Tiffanie, etc.)
Jessica (more popular in the '80s and '90s, but still too common)

Most people "of age" today (born in early 1990s and before) tend to have very common names like Jenny, Ashley, James, etc.

Once you get to kids born about 1995 onwards, you get really weird names. This generation is full of Emilys, Madisons, Dylans, Suris, and Apples. Frank Zappa is probably smiling in his grave right now!

For about the past 10 years it's become cool to give your child rare, made-up, strange, or old-fashioned names. What do you think of the trend?

I would say for "classic" names, Amy or Sarah. For more unusual names, I kind of like Tammy (more as a nickname than a name unto itself).

Baby will sleep from 8pm to 6am evernight, has breakfast @ 630-7 and takes a nap about 9am. All is good until afternoon nap. He FIGHTS nap, I have tried white noise, letting him cry(will cry so hard he will almost make himself sick)rocking, patting, will get him almost alseep put in crib then BAM within 5 min he is awake and mad. He will finally give in about 330pm after struggling with him all afternoon. He is doing this with my self and sitter that watches him at my home. Just started doing this within the last 3 weeks. He is getting solid lunch before nap. He is also a preemie born at 29 weeks so his adjusted age right now is 5 months and 1 week. He just had checkup on friday and all is well. I can tell that he is extremely tired and this is not due to being spoiled becasue he has never been held for any of his naps. He has lots of play time with people & by himself. He is a wonderful baby but afternoon naps bring on a different child lol.

My little girl just got Chicken Pox...her doctor said to just give her Benadryl for the itching, but are there any "off the record" treatments or home remedies you know of that helped with the itching? And helped to soothe?

I have a great little kid that I love to death, the problem is that she won't sleep through the night! I've tried letting her cry, holding her, not picking her up, giving her a bottle of milk, giving her a bottle of just water, giving her a bottle of watered down milk....ferberizing has not worked yet. Is she just stubborn, am I doing something wrong? And we've (she and I) been working on this for about 3 months now. Is there a possibility that her day care provider is holding her for naps and that is why she is fussing for bedtime and naps now? I am just past the exhaustion point. I've started to get so out of it that I am taking out my neighbors mailboxes on the way to work in the morning!
I am going to try not going in to her at all, and just letting her cry it out by herself with no contact from me, but that would be too hard! Any advice?

I have an almost 3 week old baby girl, and for the past 7 days, she has been throwing up, once a day. The doctor has done multiple CBCs, and her blood count has been up (given medication to make it go down), down, and now back up. She had a blood culture to check for bacteria, nothing showed. The poor girl has been poked and prodded for a week now, and the stress and worry is starting to get to me!! Has anyone been through anything similar?

(almost too good!=)). when he is in his walker i notice he walks with his tip toes. when i work with him on his walking, he uses his tip toes even more. since it it summer i usually let him go barefooted. is this normal? do i need to keep walking shoes on him?

My daughter is 13 months. She still gets baby food (3rd foods) and baby rice cereal. What are some good foods to start feeding her? I don't want her to choke, that's my biggest fear! (first time mom) I want her to get proper nutrition also. Please advise!

My daughter will be 3 months old Wednesday I was just wondering what milestones should she have accomplished by now?? the only thing i am kinda worried about is all the baby books said that around 3 months she should start swatting at her toys and stuff but the only thing she will do is watch and laugh at them, also when i put her on her tummy on the floor she acts like she wants to crawl but she will keep her hands clenched and wont open them also she keeps her right hand torward her so she gets lopsided and rolls onto her back! this is my first baby i was wondering if there was any suggestions or anything that i could play with her at this age???

O.k. let me see if i can get this straight...Angelina and Brad pitt have millions of dollars but for the first cover photo shoot of their new baby girl shiloh, they dress her in boy clothing on the front cover of this weeks people complete with a skull teeshirt. I'm not a millionaire but when i brought both my kids home from the hospital, they were in cute infant clothes. has anybody else thought of that when they saw the cover.

I have a 4 month old son and i need to change his bottles to the bigger size which i am soaking in hot soapy water now. When he was a newborn, i steralized the bottles once before i used them but now that is he older and i need to switch sizes, I think it is o.k. to just soak them all day then use them. what do other people think?

I am currently using premixed similac formula for my 6 week old. I am getting ready to switch over to powder. Any thoughts on how to make getting bottles prepared easier? Premixed formula is wonderful, but expensive!
