Names I would like less of:

Madison (don't see the appeal)
Emily (these tend to be snobby, or ugly, or both)
Michael (way too common)
Derek (name for a loser)
Anything spelled wrong (Ashlee, Tiffanie, etc.)
Jessica (more popular in the '80s and '90s, but still too common)

Not really a question, now, is it?

There are lots of names that are too common, or that I don't like, but I don't know the circumstances under which people choose them, either.

For example, my younger daughter is named Stella, which I think is too common of a name. (Check the Social Security website: it's surprisingly high on the list, and climbing.) However, she's named for my grandmother (maiden name=Stellacci), who was very ill when Stella was born and passed away shortly thereafter.

Why do you care what other people name their kids, anyway? Just fuss about naming yours. It's a HARD thing to do. (Our kids didn't have names for days and days...)

I agree a little. My name is Emily and it seems like when someone says my name like 14 little girls turn around. Madison isn't very common I don't think. I've only met one in my whole life. Michael isn't very common either (at least not around here). Derek is a horrible name--enough said. Ashlee, Tiffanie, Stephanie, Jessica, Haylee, Brittany---all those are just so cheesy.

I like Madisyn, Emily, Derek, and Jessica, but I agree on Michael. Misspellings are sometimes okay.

By the way my name is Jessica and at times i wish my name was different but my mom gave it to me so i wouldn't change it even if i wanted too...I do know so many Jessica's that it is pitful but all these names nowadays will be boring later on just like my name and others.

Good luck

go to www.babynames.com I cant see what kind of name you like seeing you dont like misspelled names or new or old names. Im very picky with the names I give my children. I think that the name should be somewhat original and the name I give them they should be proud of and not hate.

My kids names are Carmelo, Keon, and Devion. Not very popular but cool names. My name is Keeliema and my husbands name is Devonte.

David, My husband named our son David after his father who died when my husband was 15. I think it's a cute name, but it's very popular.

I totally agree. Especially with those misspelled names. What is with that?! What, if you spell the name wrong, you think your kid is unique? NOT!
